Time to go to sleep… I just ordered my new glasses. After the cataract surgery and implanting a lens in my left eye, turns out that I am no longer short sighted with it, rather a wee bit far sighted. My prescription has gone from -18 to roughly +1 diopters (fine tuned for reading distance and afar) for focus and astygmatism has shrinked from 2.5 to 1.5 (by replacing the cristallin with a perfectly round lens, there’s only the astygmatism caused by the cornea).

It’s the first time in my life I don’t see the world through myopia. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 5 and now, even if I still need glasses because of astygmatism, I can see the world the way normal people with healthy eyes do. It’s an interesting, even beautiful place. The colors are amazing. And women… wow. Just wow.

Of course it has its downsides. I’ve seen more wrinkles and ugly moles in the last weeks than ever before. Everybody kind of looks older. And I am thinking that maybe I should do something about my hairdo…

But, my eyes still are sickly eyes. More issues will arise down the road. But so far I can’t wait to have my right eye done and enjoy ā€œyourā€ world.

Maybe sometime I will miss the color fog that’s been my bare eyesight for all my life. But not yet. Oh, also I ordered 3 new glasses (1 set for far distance and street use, 2 sets for reading ditance for home and worplace) and all 3 together will cost me less than what I had to pay just for the lenses in my previous glasses, 14 years ago…

Night night lovelies!

I’m so happy for you that you are rid of some of your eyesight problems! I understand how you feel as I myself have had myopia since I was a little girl and every time I get new glasses I get all excited to see better, clearer and farther than previously.
I love the positivity of your post and thank you for that. One day in the future I, too, may have to undergo surgery for my eyes but I still have many years to go and I don’t mind wearing glasses, they make me look more intelligent than I actually am.

More good news, I love it!

Her dress is simply gorgeous. Not a fan of the haircut though.

Aaaaand I’m back. My PC at the time broke down at an ā€œOmega-Level Fubarā€ after posting that, so doing anything on it was not possible. Now I post from a different machine and It appears I have lots of catching up to do!

-Heather McNeil-Hudson / Vindicator-

Hand-to-Hand Combat, Flight, Learned Intellect, Master Strategist, Leadership.

Forced to take a full-time job at an early age to help support her family, Heather McNeil worked for the Am-Can Petroleum Company in Edmonton, Alberta. There she met James MacDonald Hudson, a scientist who had invented an armored suit intended for geological exploration. McNeil was attracted to Hudson, who was her elder by many years, and the pair fell in love and were soon married.

James formed the super-team Alpha Flight for the Canadian Government’s Department H, and following his death Heather accepted the responsibility of leading Alpha Flight. She was briefly mutated by Loki’s Fire Fountain, serving in the Berserkers as Guardian until turning against the trickster god. She eventually donned a variant of James’s battle-suit as Vindicator; as Alpha Flight’s leader, Heather suffered through a resurrection, a death, and then a second resurrection of her husband. For a time after James’s second return, he and Heather lived and worked happily together on several research projects. After a while, however, the two were forced to confront the fact that they had both changed, and agreed to separate. Heather then took a job working in a flower shop, but was soon after coerced to join a revamped Alpha Flight, led by a surprisingly young James. After an encounter with the original members of Alpha Flight, including the real James, it was discovered that the younger Hudson was a clone created by Department H. The original members rejoined the team, and Heather retired from active duty, taking up a position as Alpha Flight’s official government liaison.

Soon after, Heather revealed that she was pregnant with James’ child, and following a brief return to active duty with Alpha Flight she retired to prepare for the birth. Heather was then targeted by one of James’s former co-workers who was jealous of their relationship and sought to take Heather for himself. James was almost killed in the ensuing clash, but both parents were able to welcome their baby girl into the world.

What she’s wearing under her shoes are called qabqab or nalin, and are a kind of high clog that used to be worn at the Turkish baths to keep the feet and shoes away from water and dirt on the ground. They were a status symbol and the higher ones made walking so difficult that the wearer was assisted by a maid.
