Tholos Miner

The Tholos as a combat miner isn’t that bad.
As an Alpha, you are able to fly the Tholos, minus the covert ops and breacher pod.

A little less cargo hold than a Venture, but the drones and rockets and when you’re able to fit a covert op and breacher pod, plus mining lasers, very good fleet support plus some mining as well.

If you like having a third of the mining yield and a tenth of the cargohold, sure. If you want a “combat miner” get a procurer.

Don’t forget about the 200m price tag too.

Looking at the thread title I knew who posted it.

What causes this repeated obsession of using the Tholos for roles it isn’t built for?

Why this ship?

Have you used it in combat yet?

So, without the main characteristics of the ship?

What about the ship makes you want to use it, if not the breacher pod and cloak?

The secondary characteristics of web resistance and shield repair bonuses are OK, but they’re not really something that makes me think "these bonuses would be great for mining, and so useful that I’m willing to give up the superior yield, ore hold and all other QoL of using a proper mining ship for the role of mining".

But maybe I’m missing something?

It’s a Combat Miner, when is the last time you came across anything luxurious related to combat?

How is this ship a miner?

It has no mining bonuses.
It has no mining hold.
Unlike all the mining ships, this ship has no mining sensor.

The Tholos is not a miner.

You could slap mining modules on it, like you can do on any ship, but that doesn’t make a ship a miner any more than any random ship with mining modules.

How, just how, is the Tholos a miner?

Its called a 200m conversation piece. It was put together for just that……to start a conversation.

It worked.
