Tikka - for CSM 21 "High-Sec and New Player Retention

You do know that you’ve just told people that they shouldn’t care about affiliation with a group, when there are highly-documented problems with said group? Particularly with its leadership?

I’m familiar with bloc candidates, but running as a member of a group that has had multiple documented issues with just treating people right is, in fact, something that people should take pause at.

You’re right that ideas shouldn’t matter. However, the fact stands that you count yourself a member of a group that has struggled with being the slightest bit respectful. If you lose, you can still advocate your ideas to those who make it onto the Council; if you win, a group with well-documented, serious issues gains legitimacy.

And how you handle the criticism of being aligned with such a group speaks volumes about how you’d handle other criticisms.

I do think I am polite, and you will find in 20 years not one post that will paint me as inconsiderate. Having a point that is different from yours does not make someone a bad person; it makes them a person with a different point.

I firmly have the point that being a CSM member is not about alliances and affiliation or politics. It should be about the ideas that benefit the game and the player base. I understand that is fundamental against your point of view, but that makes neither point invalid; it makes them just different.

That was not the point at all, and if you’re reading that out of what I said, then you are heavily misreading.

The issue is affiliation, and is that the alliance you call yourself a member of has a history of mistreatment against various people. Not that you do, that is a claim you’re reading into this.

Maybe we can make progress by coming at this from the opposite direction.

One of the most aggressive alliances at recruiting new players is AO. This is massively damaging to both the experience of new players and retention of those players when they discover they are in a corporation the leadership of which is openly fascist.

As a member of the CSM with an interest in new players, how would you address the damage done to the game by AO?

“I bet AO has made a lot of new players quit eve…”

I’ll take that bet. I’ve been in AO for years and I think I’ve heard 2 people rage quit for lack of help. I wasn’t there when the “NAZI” controversy came about, but I can tell you I’ve never heard anyone talk in Alliance chat in that way. There are annoying people in any large corp and that’s normal stuff. Cursing is actually not even allowed in chat, but it happens now and then.

Why is your last post 3 years ago? CCP notified me!

Shin’s been there for years yet wasn’t around when the controversies came out…

They’ve been since about 2024, so it’s kinda been when you were around, Shin. They’re all well-documented from ingame and in Discord.

With respect, sounds like you’re in a see-no-evil, hear-no-evil mode. So don’t act surprised if no one takes your defenses at face value.

The same way I would address a larger entity inviting many new players, preferably by introducing ideas that help bridge the knowledge gap between new and experienced players in EVE.

I see the new UI changes as a great opportunity for this. The more accessible we can make the game, the easier it is for every player who intends to help a new player. This will benefit new players and ease their way into the game.
