I might know and think the answer is inside this very thread.
If I am ever in a fleet again and need to use that I will just click on keep at range or orbit.

The principle is as you describe and ensure fleet is most effective especialy if using doctrines. I love the fact you dropped a mobile depot <3.
Fleets can be great fun if you get a good fight with evenly matched fleet. Hope to see you on the opposing side overview sometime

right click person designated as anchor, add to watchlist, right click persons name when on grid and keep at xxx range.
is the basics.
