Yea, and I bet that hurt some fragile egos a little …
Whatever keeps them subbed, right?
They’re the worst to keep a hold of tho…
Monocle for $60? Anyone remembers these?
Was not this successful
Times have changed.
Hmm… The issue I have with this, goes back to the introduction of AUR and subsequently the injector-extractor paradigm…
I will disclaim, that the following may be completely wrong, but it is how I’ve experienced the change in game-dynamics regarding the player-base.
So. Before SP was transferable at all, SP and training was a sort of equalizer, in the sense that everyone that where not a veteran, would have to build up their skills in order to get shiny stuff. This in turn, created a good base of players that had to find content that suited their SP. I remember how frustrating it was not being able to fly what I wanted to. But since the rules where the same for everyone, it didn’t matter at all, since i could easily find sub-communities in the groups, i was flying with, that where in the same boat, and had to adapt their content accordingly. Lots of FW people, lots of small ship, small gang pew pew.
However, after the introduction of the extractor-injector system, SP became horizontally transferable, and all of a sudden the great equalizing effect, of this time based constrain, disappeared. The effects where not that noticeable in the beginning, other than the first wave of people that exploited the system. But over time, it seems that the entry into different types of gameplay in EVE has become “throw money at it and skip the process”.
I know, you don’t “win” eve by criteria of you SP count. I know, and agree. But you do gain access to specialized and more advances types of gameplay based on your SP count and distribution.
Not inherently a problem, but I feel it has contributed to EVE loosing some of the things that made it stand out in the past. I could mention many things that I feel has been affected, but that would undermine my point, and it may be different things to other players…
But I do feel like this development is taking things further into the realm of P2W… Or I like to say; Pay to Play Without Limits.
OK, just went through the thread and saw all the various remarks like - People would be dumb to buy this pack - or - This pack is too expensive - or - Boycott it due to CCP breaking their promise - etc …
I currently have some level 5 skills that have a very long training time and since my character has well over 232 mill SP’s, the price and amount of SP’s from Skill Injectors just won’t do.
However this pack and all the other packs will definitely help a lot to knock down the waiting time for those skills to train, and since I have plenty of money it’s no big deal for me to buy them.
Granted I don’t like that CCP is doing this but hey, can’t change it so might as well take advantage of it. And to top it all off, there’s another Log-In event happening with SP rewards.
As long as it’s acknowledged that skill-points don’t necessarily equate to a player’s actual skill.
i really don’t care
but the meta changed and i never adjusted , like in the old days to have lvl 5 + lvl 5 specialization to use t2 modules was the shiˆ%
nowadays people have bling and skills and drugs and implants
it became more like a classic mmo on the sense that gear matter a bit
but besides that i really don’t care, if is the price to pay to have EVE 4 EVA , ok
SP for sale.
It’s very important to note here that this means all the skillpoints available to buy on the market in EVE will have originated on other characters where they were trained at the normal rate.
This is aging well.
And this level of density. People paying 40 bucks for 3 weeks worth of SP + 25 days of acceleration, which is worth 3 months of omega time… No wonder that CCP can say whatever they want and then do the exact opposite with that level of density among the customers.
Nah. Their owners have literally billions.
CCP hf. is, according to people who know more about this,
who read PA’s public financial stuff, doing good.
CCP is simply trying out other ways of making money.
It’s once per account, because they know they need to be careful.
I doubt they’re going to do this very often, but we’ll see.
Edit: Hmmm… 280 posts later.
In any case, no one even knows if these SP aren’t all actually confiscated. I’m pretty confident in saying that CCP must have “gathered” literally hundreds of billions of SP from all those botters and whoever else they’ve banned over the years.
This artificial outrage is silly. SP inflation. Yeah. In their heads, maybe.
There really are people out there, who are dumb enough to believe that “catching up in terms of SP” is somehow important, because otherwise they can’t be “competitive”. Open secret: these guys have really short ones.
CCP is serving those stupid enough to buy into it …
… and those who see the benefits of buying the SP like this.
According to plenty of others, this SP offer is beneficial to anyone above 5mill SP.
In the end I have serious doubt,
with no evidence of the contrary,
that people have legitimate reason to complain about this.
This is nothing compared to the introduction of the PLEX Vault.
When that happened … the outcry was missing.
There were those who’ve noticed it, but there was no outcry at all.
Why?
Because the old guard …
… who would have torn down this game because of CCP selling SP like this …
… and who would have torn the game apart because of the PLEX Vault even earlier …
… is mostly long gone.
PS: EVE doesn’t supprt “golden bullet” type stuff like people imagine.
“A functioning society” isn’t actually compatible with that.
Five hundred edits later I’m finally done.
@CCP 100 mil sp new characters for sale when?
(not trying to buy one, just curious when you’ll completely sell out)
also who on your marketing team came up with these prices? 3 months of gametime is $38.85 and will get you ~3.5 mil sp. obvious cash grab is obvious.
So what?
People claim the SP is made out of thin air …
… but it’s irrelevant.
Hundreds of billions of SP leave this game every year because of thousands of botters and others,
who are getting banned. It is absolutely ridiculous to pretend to care about “SP being made out of air” while at the same time ignoring that gigantic amounts of SP are being converted into exactly that.
The difference between buying characters with SP preloaded …
… and creating characters and buying the SP …
… or spending months for accumulation …
… is ■■■■■■■ irrelevant.
When I heard pearl abyss had acquired CCP I was just wating for some ■■■■■■■■ like this as some one who played Black desert for 4 years I was just waiting for this to be honest im surprised skins where not sold for 30-40 euro each because that what black desert charge for their armor skins.
But yeah I was just wating for pearl abyss to F-this game up with some stupid ■■■■ like selling SP or take 30 bucks for skins or setting the price for Omega time to 30 euro which they charge for their premium think in black desert.
All in all I think eve should revert back to how it used to be when it comes to stuff sure we can keep the F2P aspect.
But make like it used to be 1 plex to use for game time and no selling of injectors or extractors and no selling of dual skill or such just have 1 plex for game time and out of game you can sell dual charter training and name change and so on but ingame remove all that ■■■■■■■■.
I will say like I always say if you can´t afford to keep your servers going close down and find something new to do because if your mmo is not making enough money to keep it alive then it should die instead of becoming a cash shop heaven for whales.
Also to all of you damn whales F-you all your the reason all games today have cash shops and lootboxes because you stupid ass hats keep wasting money on trash.
I am going to guess that you are not an entrepreneur.
150k? Skill injectors require 500k sp. You may need to go over your numbers again.
this. so much this.
To be honest the bundle isn’t bad.
If you only look at the 1.5mil skill points and the $34.99 price tag, sure it looks bad.
But things to take into account;
Only one can be purchased per account (not character), so no-one can abuse it by purchasing heaps on one account.
The SP are injected into character of players choice.
And the overlooked kicker…
…the Accelerator is a +8 attribute (nothing over the top there) with a default runtime of 12.5days, extendable to almost 28days with level5 biology and +10% implant.
A master-in-arms will only max out to 52hours and costs currently 160-190mil per accelerator. You’d need 13 to get the same runtime or roughly 11 to get the same amount of skillpoints. That’s roughly 1.7bil to buy if you get cheap master-in-arms accelerators.
So value wise its about right, and limited to one purchase makes sure it can’t over abused.
Whoever it was is a marketing genius and should get a raise. Based on the number of the exclusive boosters now flooding the market, players are more than happy to throw money at a massively overpriced bundle.
