[UNF-A][Humanitarian Aid] Lirsautton VI Medical Response

Finally someone who understands and respects that book. The amount of times I’ve pulled singed scraps of it out of warships after thwarting their attempts to inflict death and destruction in the name of the Rite is staggering. I can’t tell if it’s simply sheer ignorance and never having read the damn thing, or if it’s downright mockery of its message.

I still maintain what I advised to Ms. Priano, but she is free to continue her distribution of items, but UNF’s stance and view has been made open about such Mr. Avarr. I believe differences of opinion are allowed between individuals and organizations, no?

Certainly. Nothing wrong with honest differences of opinion.

This situation seems complicated.

OK, we have the message from the Lirsautton system authorities:

“This council of authorities from Tei-Su and Hulang, cognizant of the illegal broadcast from Lirsautton VI, recognizing that foreign-aligned capsuleer organizations UNF-A, ARC, and associated parties encroach on the sovereign land of the Jin-Mei nation, aware that UNF-A, ARC, and associated parties disregard our conditions for Lirsautton VI colonies, understanding that the Aidonis Foundation are present to assist with local disputes, hereby calls UNF-A, ARC, and associated parties to cease operations on Lirsautton VI, remove their planetside assets, and desist from further interference. If UNF-A, ARC, and associated parties fail to do so within a two-week period, this council will pursue legal recourse in the Ysiette district court.”

With this they just want to say: “Do not interfere!”

And maybe they have a point, since they know how and why the exiles were cast on the planet. They know their crimes and the judicial system of the Jin-Mei probably has been right to exile most of the people that reside on Lirsautton VI.

However - they still have the obligation to follow the Federal Constitution and provide coverage of the colonies basic needs - shelter, healthcare, you name it.

And there is one more thing I want to emphasize on, that surfaces from the news coverage:

Criminals earning a punishment that strips them of their caste are now deposited in a penal colony planetside. After generations of exiles being left there, and the penal compounds left neglected for decades, tribes have coalesced and roam the surface. Corporations and capsuleers are permitted to build facilities on the condition that they do so far away from exile settlements.

Generations of exiles? Does this mean that when exiles have children, these children too are exiled, meaning that they pay for the crimes of their parents? Is the Jin-Mei judicial system OK with that? I mean - it may seem justified to a point, but to me it looks too harsh. Do they have the right to punish an exile’s generation? How do the children inherit their parents crimes? And are the crimes inherited indefinitely, generation after generation? Is there a limit?

There are many questions and all this seems rather inhumane, from a viewer standpoint.

While I do acknowledge the Lirsautton authorities demand, I ask of them to be open for dialogue and share details, answering the questions, so that we can resolve this matter in a reasonable and peaceful way. UNF-A, ARC and the rest of the associated independent capsuleers - I am sure we all want to resolve this matter in the best way possible, in collaboration with the Lirsautton authorities.

My personal opinion is that when someone commits a crime, they should be punished, but also they should be given a chance to correct themselves and become a better person. Is it better to punish a man for a lifetime, wasting their life, or is it better to give them a chance, even after a long exile, so that they can learn from their mistakes, change their ways and become better?

It was resolved reasonably and peacefully when the Sang Do abandoned the colonies generations ago. That is the Sang Do position, tacitly endorsed by the Federation all this time.

The Gallenteans have been comfortable with the Jing Ko living in the worst conditions in the Federation, but at least to them and the Sang Do, we exist. The Casteless get no such acknowledgment - emulating the Adakul means as much to the lords as the little hero from “The Great Furrier Detective” being an Amarr believer. They’re not real things that bear consideration.

Maybe some Aidonis hotshot could get themselves infected with this disease. “Whoops.” Necessitate expanded emergency medical protocols. “Didn’t mean to.” Maybe then turn the Constitution into the crowbar they’re looking for.

Advise modest expectations.

It would seem the Jin-Mei judicial system is supported in this by legal precedent at the Federal level.

I unfortunately can’t necessarily say that I would be surprised by this.

They left them there to rot, not the actions of a civilised society.

It’s the Federation, not the civilized society.

I should probably get some more information on this. This type of punishment in the Jin-Mei society, is probably a well known fact. Will look into it.

Please, if someone has more information on this, let us know.

Yes, I don’t expect them to change their statement, they will probably just wait for these two weeks and then proceed with their plan according to our actions.

Isn’t the nature of the Jin-Mei autonomous government powers devolved from the Federal Administration covered in the basic CDIA Fact Book primers covering the Gallente Federation you get in your capsuleer education?

Looking at some of the responses here, it feels like I must have been one of the few to actually watch or read them.

Honestly, they came free from CONCORD during your capsuleer training.

While I laud the humanitarian instincts on display, it all seems a little bit culturally insensitive to the Jin-mei.

Indeed so and well said. Contrary to the popular narrative propagated by some. The Federation allows wide latitude to its constituent States. It is a Federal Union, a Federation how many different ways do we need to say it?

The actions of a particular State… have to reach egregious proportions to prompt interference. As our State friends so often opine, “Mind your own business.”

I just found it rather strange myself. My Family has traditionally done a lot of business with Lai Dai and Kaalakiota, and the dear comrade-citizens from those two Megacorporations tend to be very keenly aware of their own history as to how they conduct their affairs with others.

I am told by them that the very nature of the conflict of their first war with the Federation was the constant Gallentean interventions into their society under the guise of a “good cause” which wholly disrespected their traditional sovereignty and was considered patronizing to the extent no attention was paid to the Caldari cultural paradigm in what Gallente found so objectionable.

Yet now I see what seems to be an ostensible Caldari affiliate acting in I admit, a very Gallentean fashion. Intervening in this Jin-mei affair without even having the consideration to consult the actual traditional owners of that land and its government – the Sang Do governors – to the extent that very government they ignored had to file a petition at their undue and unwelcome intrusion into their own affairs!

Fair points, to both of you Mr. Syagrius, Ms. Kezak-Akarin. It still doesn’t prevent some degree of disappointment about how the Sang-Do specifically have chosen to approach this, but they are, at the current point of time, not obstructing the Aidonis Foundation, so not entirely trying to remove humanitarian aid, so still well within their rights from what I understand.

After much consideration and internal discussion with the Gallente and handful of Jin-Mei capsuleers UNF has picked up over the past two years, it’s become obvious this outcome was unfortunately inevitable with the way it was approached. The UNF, also being a foreign entity, and not just a capsuleer entity, as well has likely only further exacerbated this.

UNF will continue its current course of pursuing other avenues of approach, including trying to reach out to the Sang-Do, while also continuing the transfer of materials over to the Aidonis Foundation and treating as many individuals as is possible during the timeframe we have to work with, which considering what I understand to be the Sang-Do’s traditionally rigid nature, is actually quite a generous span of time.

Oh, I have always found the Sang Do more than amenable – if you can present a case that is in their interests.

S-ICH not even an hour ago passed officially to UNF-A our decision for clearing our personnel that were granted at the beginning of this operation as were requested from UNF-A at the time. We expect this procedure to take 2-4 days, while cooperating with UNF-A to give them time to find the necessary personnel so a humanitarian aid isn’t disrupted.

Although, I wont get into details about the reasons behind this decision, sufficed to say that are of ethical reasons as to the approach of this aid in an operational manner. This decision reflects also the majority of our personnel on the citadel and the sites.

As an organization with an active presence in humanitarian fronts throughout New Eden, we will look with interest the developments of this situation. In addition, although we placed hopes to this endeavor from the present capsuleers to achieve something noteworthy, we have come to the conclusion that we will look into possible solutions and routes on an organisational level in the coming weeks.

Again Ioannis, I’d like to thank you and S-ICH for your assistance up to this point. It has been most appreciated, and I, on behalf of UNF apologize for the turn that things have currently taken.

We wish you and S-ICH luck with your future endeavors.

We should have replacement personnel ready and in place in about three days.

While I do not speak in any official capacity for Eve Scout/Signal Cartel, I can say that several of our pilots are concerned about the conditions for the exiles on Lirsauntton VI. We have dropped off food and medicine at the UNF-A’s staging facility, and will continue to provide that support for so long as we can remain true and compliant with our Credo.
