Utility drones bonuses

Please, make EWAR bonuses on respective hulls (Celestis, Keres, Bellicose, Armageddon, Arbitrator…) be applied to DRONES. If Celestis is good at damping, then its drones should be good at damping too.

Idea is to make drones approx. TWICE better than in current state IF the specialized bonused hull is used.

I will clarify:

  • light wing of neuting drones works as 50% of small energy neutralizer
  • so, pure EWAR variant of neut drones are bad - no one is using those
  • hybrid “rogue” variant of neuting drones - is much better, because it adds ~66% of damage on the top of the pure utility drone effect

Let’s “polish” the deed to make EWAR and Logistic ships more powerful with utility drones!

Celestis and Keres are Gallente, Bellicose is Minmatar, Armageddon and Arbitrator are Amarr ships.

ECM is Caldari EWAR.

It wouldn’t make sense for those hulls to have an ECM bonus.

If you want ECM bonuses apply to drones on EWAR ships, try the Caldari Griffin Navy Issue, or a big Caldari ship like the newly added Simurgh.

In general ECM drones are some of the most popular EWAR drones because of the lack of diminishing returns and their usefulness even in solo situations (unlike ECM itself), so I doubt these drones are in a need of a buff.

I’m terribly sorry - you are right - this is not ECM but EWAR (tp, damps, webs, jams, td etc..) - I don’t know why I used those abbr., late night maybe haha) Anyway, I’ve corrected first post to avoid obfuscation. Thanks you!

Okay that makes more sense!

Still I don’t see the added use of this, (EWAR) drones are pretty weak even with bonuses so usually they’re best used to complement a different role the ship is lacking.

Like if you have good neuts, let drones deal damage. Or if you have good damage, let drones do neuting.

If I’m flying a Griffin to ECM an enemy ship they’re likely jammed, which makes ECM drones ‘a little bit of more of the same’ and not very useful.

Likewise other EWAR ships have strong enough damps, webs and neuts of their own that you would want to use different drones than the effect you have already covered.

So I don’t see the point much of this change.

I’d rather see other ships be specialized in doing something with drones that they don’t already do themselves better. The drone web bonus of the Myrmidon NI comes to mind, which is pretty interesting.

Hmm.. you’re right - there is not much benefits to deploy duplicating EWAR drones for Celestis or Blackbird and similar.
What comes to mind - is the specific bonus for hulls which can affect maybe all EWAR types. Making it “utility ship”.
I imagine Ishkur/Dominix/Sin could have x2 drone EWAR power modification!

Those drone-based combat ships are unlikely to deploy anything but combat drones as it would be a waste of their drone damage bonuses to do so.

(This is also why the old logi drone bonus on the Sin felt so useless.)

EWAR drones are more useful on ships that have a drone bay but also a different main offensive system.

Hah) True:) But not about ISHKUR! Which doesn’t have bonus to drone damage! (I have mine Ishkurs tailored purely for utility - full neuts rack and buffer tank and tackle. Is for fleet usage, of course, not solo)
I also was thinking about how awesome it would be to have, say,

  • Blackbird, using sensor dampening drones (x2 power), thus limiting target’s lock range (can’t lock Blackbird) and having longer time to lock any other targets
  • Celestis, with SCANRES damps using ECM drones (Vespas?) x2 power - which could make target lock time be 30-60sec! Depending on the hull sizes!

Yea, damps go really well with ECM! Each makes the other stronger.
