I understand why CCP brought it back, but I would not expect it to stay as it is. CCP already announced they want to remove low attention game play.
Hopefully they release some carrot at the same time to reduce the shock to the comatosed players.

I dont know what it is with players like you, my only suggestion would be that maybe you should stop gatekeeping and you may see more people playing the game. The game is comparatively more punishing than it was ten years ago. The recent drone change did nothing but force more clicking, and with drones being a relatively low DPS system (and one that can be directly countered by everything else), the one advantage to them in PvE was the fact they could do their own thing, which they have been able to do since I started playing in 2009. There is now a smarter AI system as well, which target drones. CCP need to be careful as a game can only be so difficult in that it rewards existing players so much over newer players eventually you will have no one left to be an asshat toward.
You are right. On all points.
Hereâs a thoughtâŚstop giving a damn HOW other people play and yes that includes you game runners.
You do you and everyone else do them. I donât give a DAMN what anyone else does and yes that includes afk and even botter bois.

CARE!
This was created and marketed as a sandbox, meaning
Laissez Faire.
That will result in a healthier 'verse and economy than trying to socially engineer people with nerfs and other âcleverâ strategems.
Itâs a given that everyone is welcome to post their opinions in the forums, and each person can argue about how their PoVs are right, while the other side is wrong.
Even if someone posts something disagreeing with your point of view, that doesnât need to be considered as a personal attack.
Of course, doing something like belittling someoneâs opinion due to their Zkillboard presence or being new to the forums isnât nice, and I wonât say there isnât actualy trolls roaming around the forums that enjoy some shitposting here and there, but even they can come to a mature level headed discussion from time to time.
Whenever any discussion with the same person starts to repeat itself, I then try to return to the original arguments and see if there was some kind of â â â â up along the way, where we started talking about oranges instead of bananas, and try to bring the conversation back on track.
If I made any comment that might have been taken as a personal attack to anyone here or in any other thread, then I do apologize, but it certainly wasnât in my intention, as I do enjoy discussing in the forums, and have had a lot of fun interacting with everyone since I have joined.
I personally enjoy trying to think from both sides before posting my PoV, to see if Iâm being unreasonable or not.
People posting in the resoruce redistribution thread about how they canât manufacture anymore, or on here, about how they canât rat anymore, are pure BS in my opinion.
I do take a moment to think abotu it, and Iâm aware it sucks they wonât be able to play the game as they used to, but at the same time, Iâm unable to sympathize with their inability to adapt, and HTFU.
Imo, the drone changes were good, as they actually managed to address the points CCP wished to address, but it didnât change the fact it was a bandaid fix, and I was fully aware of it.
CCP now is aware their bandaid wasnât enough, and actually caused some issues they probably couldnât skirt around when removing PvE drone aggression, as that might have messed with the drone AI too much, so Iâm glad we might be getting a full on drone rework in the future.
I still believe that the low to no attention gameplay is an issue, and that rehauling PvE content would probably be the best approach for that, but I also wonât complain if CCP decides to take a different route thatâs easier to implement, in case it manages to solve the issue they want to tackle nonetheless.
Nice attempt to defend botting, but no, f*** them.
If this was something like Minecraft, without an in-game economy, then maybe, but even Mojang fixes bugs with item duplication and etc, because they donât want to have the designed game balance ruined.
Playing broken games, or even using CheatEngine to get unlimited health and ammo can be fun, but it gets old fast, and will ruin your game experience sooner than later.
Cheating in an MMO just makes it so everyoneâs experiences suffer, instead of just yours.
Iâm all for kicking afk gameplay in the nackers but if it is to be addressed it needs to be addressed across the board for players not to feel aggrieved . If you nerf afk ratting then they look at miners and say well how come they are getting away with it and if you nerf afk mining then they look at afk cloaky campers and say the same . nerf afk not sections of the eve community that will inevitably feel that why are they picking on me and not them feeling.
Winner : )
keep it as it is i like it
and the bots lose out no need to change it back
Outside of having a player solve a captcha every 30 mins how do you suggest AFK gameplay is solved?
How about we spawn a capital rat that destroys him if heâs not warping out?
Or make some item which makes ganktards randomly spawn on top of him?
Oh waiâŚ
AFK ratting has been âsolvedâ for a long time now, slowpokes.
Bots are the major winners of those changes.
At the stage the game is in, I think adding new players is more important than pulling out all the stops to cater to the existing ones that are on their way out regardless. The earliest eve players are in their 30s and 40s now, are having families and other commitments. There is a ever growing group of players who will be leaving even if CCP made eve online objectively the best game in the world. Eve HAS to get a lot of new players to come in and stick around if it is going to survive and it needs to do it right now. A newbro needing to grind for hours to pay for a venture because of abysmal ore prices, is not an incentive to stick around. A new PvP minded player attempting to find some casual PvP and not finding anything is a not an incentive for them to stick around. A new indy player not being able to get started because much of eve industry is based on the amazon model of high volume, low margins is not an incentive for them to stick around.
I do agree the grindiness needs to be reduced - there arenât only alternatives to eve online now, but MANY alternatives, but nothing should be as easy as shooting fish in a barrel, which makes the rich richer and keeps anyone attempting to establish themselves near the bottom for a long time.
the whole argument that people do AFK ratting only because it is boring is ridiculous. on a scale of a small number of accounts, perhaps, but no one sending out 20 accounts to grind isk cares about it being fun, they care about the money and it wouldnât matter if it were fun at all.
Perhaps they could space the changes out more, but maybe they think things changing in the game that make it more sticky for new players wont happen fast enough if they donât.
Personally, I have loved most of these changes. I make more mining now with fewer hours of mining. I make more ratting, going into systems with higher dynamic bounties. While I am not PvP driven, ESS defense has been the funnest small scale PvP I have done in eve. Its nice being able to get a fight where once all the cards are on the table, there is no going back if one side decides they canât win. And no kitey â â â â â â â â .
blah blah blah i couldnt read any further after reading that long time players dont matter⌠LOL
i heared there is a cool new feature called âabyssal deadspaceâ where piloting skill actually matters if one wants to run higher level sites and make dank ISK - you should check it out some time
Horse manure. Ore prices are mostly flat to down and yield is down as well.
didnât say that. said getting new players to come and stick around for a few years is more important than appeasing and older demographic which is rapidly shrinking
False.
Really solid argument : )
there is no argument to be made. isk per hour is better mining in both HS and Null now and it isnât debatable
