I run a not so small nullsec corp as the CEO and to me it is a blessing for my rookie corp.
The skill plans are still, with a maximum of 5 ships / 5 skills, kinda limited but once the quirks are worked out it would be amazing as I can just link them to some new player and he can start working towards them. The Skillwindow itself is also not too bad. It just lacks the amount of information the old one gave but I take that will be added(?)
Seeing your full character is actually also amazing. While I agree it should be optional it is great to see yourself especially if you spent billions on your clothes. I am still hopeful to have some social variant of Walking In Stations back but who knows.
It appears there was a major error in the deployment of the patch, the game has this thing in general settings that has a checkbox for experimental features, and it appears that instead of this clearly experimental poorly designed nigh unusable skill catalog ui being an opt in checkbox it has been forced into the client overriding the existing usable UI that doesnât look like it was made for use on a phone or a tablet. It appears you have failed to fix this issue during the extended downtime today, I was really hoping you would have, instead weâre in this place that really nobody wants to be in. If you could kindly adjust this UI to be an opt in feature while you experiment with UI design on the live server that would be appreciated.
Attached is a picture of where the checkbox should be
Why would you remove the ability to copy your skillqueue out of the game?
I can no longer highlight my current training skills and copy them to paste them into Evemon.
Also no ability to make a skillplan from current queue, Iâd have to add each skill individually, WTF
The new skill sheet UI hides information that use to be easily visible and is more cumbersome to use. The information is less available and the utilization of space is poor.
I would like an option to utilize the old skill UI.
I would also like an option to hide my character, I know what they look like I will not forget. This takes up space that I could better use for other windows.
I also do not need a large box to click on to bring up the skill UI, the bar is all I need as it shows my current skill training progress.
The new UI sucks. You canât see skill points needed for a skill !!! Why CCP? Why? Why you removed that feature? You canât resize sh!t there, and if you run a game on a HD screen you wonât see the names of skills on a queue.
The old UI wasnât perfect, but this one is far worse!
Bring back the old UI!
The new skill UI is honestly terrible. I donât see how it makes anything more accessible for new players. Too much screen space wasted and much less informative than before. Please allow us to revert if we wish!
I dont see any answer/response from the dev team on the negative feedbacks regarding the new and âimprovedâ UI. It seems that the forum is only a placeholder . Hopes were high for the extended downtime but i guess we have to lower our expectations .
Apparently this issue can be solved by turning on âwindow blurâ, as I noticed this problem doesnât exist on another character that had window blur active.
I guess itâs no longer optional to choose window blur on or off if you want a functional UI? Seems Iâm forced to pick window blur on now.
Big issue: on lower settings itâs not possible to use window blur, which means people playing on less than optimal settings are stuck with the chaos in the picture.
The new UI is terrible and looks like a mobile UI, give us a button to toggle between the new and old UI the way we do for the old (good) map and the disaster of the new one. If youâre too proud to walk back the new design in favour of a much more usable and understandable old UI thenâŚ
Actual feedback that you probably got from sisi but ignored and will probably still never be listened to:
Unlinking the skillsheet from the character button was a mistake, I still click the character button only to be met with a picture of my character (which makes laptops unhappy) and no skillsheet. Link it back.
The arrow button on that character sheet hides the actual useful information you need and just shows your character - it should be the other way around (seriously whoever designed this has no idea how to UI).
The skillsheet has way too much blank space and the size of the writing in there is far too big, I expect the blank space will be used to put adverts for MTX in sooner or later (because why wait for X skill to train when you can boost now for onlyâŚ) but it looks awful and is unusable when not docked.
At least let us resize the thing - even using floating option you cannot shrink it small enough to be useable while in space (tiny vertical resizing options is the main problem).
Why can we still not click and drag multiple skills when this is a much requested feature?
Clicking the red button to see what skills you need autobuying the skillbooks is wrong.
Why can we no longer see how many sp we need to complete a level 5 skill for example and why is the current sp/hr no longer knowable?
Let us export skills, what use is being able to share skillplans when you canât even export?
Having to wait for the character portrait to render before you can actually jumpclone will be super painful when large fleet fights in max ti-di happens, give the option to toggle off character render.
I understand the desire to make the UI modern but when you remove functionality, make things harder to find with more clicks and less intuitive to use itâs a design failure and should be reworked before it goes to live servers.
I do wonder why CCP bother pushing these changes to SISI. the feedback was largely ignored, and if it wasnât, it should at least have been acknowledged. As it stands I wonât repeat every complaint about the skill-training page as those have been made abundantly clear if you havenât got the message regarding those, you never will.
I will say however, that the NPE is a vastly improved experience and I was genuinely impressed upon creating a new character. It felt genuinely immersing, it does itâs best not to overload the player with information in their first few minutes, and was in most ways better than any previous iteration of the NPE Iâve checked out. I tried to approach it from a new playerâs perspective, and all the nuances of being in space with other pilots, with logistics, and e-war, were great!
One minor annoyance was that the anchored structures you said wouldnât be in rookie systems, still persist, and my overview was filled with them the moment I undocked from station at the end of the NPE.
I appreciate youâre trying to impress newcomers with a shiny new interface, but please donât sacrifice access to information in favour of âmodernâ looking UI, it should still have function before form, thatâs just basic level Design Theory. New and old players alike would appreciate having their voices heard, and the SISI thread for this feature is a shining example of what NOT to do when taking feedback, as every mention of the UI was not acknowledged in any meaningful way, meaning the hours of testing and feedback that the players did for you appeared to fall on deaf ears.
