Version 23.02 - Catalyst - General Feedback

So gankers aren’t a regular players then? Care to explain why? Maybe because they multibox? Well lowsec pirates multiboxes too. And will mostly blob you as well. The only difference is that they use different ships (Recons Ship of choice + additional dps ship if needed) and they don’t lose them. That is all.

Yes. I didn’t write that correctly. Gankers and anyone who plays are regular players.

What I meant to say was: I would rather lose my ship in LowSec where it’s just a kill than lose it in HiSec where it’s most likely a gank.

Idk, I prefer not to be taken down at all, which is much much easier in highsec than lowsec. I only lost ship to gank when I was a noob and didn’t know anything about this game. (Unless I count my gank-scanning Heron that I lost to another ganker who dislike me being there. Then I switched to Gnosis and there is nothing anyone can do about it.) In lowsec I die pretty often, sub 2 sec instalocking gatecamps, mid-warp smartbombs (saw nothing on Uedama scout so I didn’t use rewarp, they got me mid-warp  ), dscan immunity ships coming to my site, instaclock-after-decloak ships uncloaking next to me, and getting blobbed if I do actually try to fight  .

Slash commands weren’t hurting ANYONE. The only thing you ‘fixed’ were people who don’t automate their inputs. Please stop making the game harder for people who are note cheating, or MAYBE, give us a button to turn on all our damn highs

Those are good incentives to fly only in HiSec but I like to have easy access to Null and Hi so Low is the logical choice. I’m one jump from Hisec and 5 jumps from Null in low-populated systems. I have scouts nearby, no implants and cheap ships. I think I’ll be alright.

Do you even :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: test the stuff you deploy? I’ve tried the new Mining Epic Arc:

First time, I got a disconnect while mining Veldspar, I reconnect and go back to mining. The counter increases until I’m at 15/15 and I don’t get the followup to mine Scordite. I open a ticket and a GM resets it for me.

Second time, I manage to reach the step where I mine scordite, guess what? The objective reaches 99% and the asteroid is depleted, where has the missing 1% gone? Maybe eaten by the crit I got? We’ll never know. Time to have the mission resetted again I suppose…

they fix download 10% speed when last 10%

but can u not update everyday just because fool bug like the fool mine price

Many good changes. Compression on a hotkey has been much needed.

That said, I 100% agree that removing in-world flavor for numbered ore “grades” is a net negative and should be reverted. One of the reasons I got hooked on this game was that the universe had great flavor to its internal lore.

I think there could have been a way to note the relative hierarchy of the ore variants without reducing immersion in the in-universe setting. One example would be to put an indicator in the item’s thumbnail; another option would be to have the items have their flavor names but their grade number noted as another database parameter.

What good would that do? Most of you don’t read anyway, especially new players. That’s why they are in Rookie Help asking things like “What’s the difference between Concentrated and Dense Veldspar?” Well, if you would bother to right click and read the details of the ore, you would know…

Personally, I like the change. I’d rather see Veldspar, Veldspar II, and Veldspar III than “Super Dee Duper Buttery Mega Rare Veldspar”….

I respect your take on this, but I disagree.

I don’t know if I think that we should dumb down the game to the lowest common denominator, such as people who can’t be bothered to read.

I pointed that out to them on the survey as well. Phased Fields are potentially exciting, but they have been made extremely ‘exclusive’, which I am not sure is a good thing.

CCP missed a great opportunity to get rid of the multitude of names for ORES…KISS (that’s Keep It SIMPLE STUPID for those who have never seen it)…one of each ore would have been fine. TRIT 1 ,2 and 3 is waste…should have just made ONE and had that make ONE STACK. Making crap complicated doesn’t make it “Fun” or “Spacey” in game already loaded with enough bull manure to learn. It’s harder to “See” visually with those super fantastic, impressive, highly technical, ROMAN NUMERALS! It takes up more unnecessary “REALESTATE” on every screen like Cargo bays and Containers (cleaner and KISS). Between Skills changing your refining rate and what % (I, II, or III) who knows (ore cares ha ha ha) just give me what I need to BUILD. NEXT TOPIC…make a toggle on the displayed information….I don’t give a RATS BUTT about ISK VALUE…I do INDUSTRY, I NEED ORE TO SATISFY a BLUEPRINT REQIREMENT. TELL ME WHAT IS IN THE DAMN ROCK. Not it’s worth 1 million isk …that’s meaningless.

Just right click on the scanner and you bring up the old scanner info about how much ore the rock has.

Rubbish.

Mining changes have been mostly fun, but I am afraid I mine less than I used to now because of the naming changes - all these other complex and interesting-to-learn changes, yet the name change has made mining less fun overall in Catalyst. For me, anyway. No more Massive Scordite, no more Opulent Whateveritwas.

And the new arc-let third mission needs a fix - I tried it again, and had to ask which of the veldspar Grade 0 (isotope) flavours had “lower density”. Their densities are all the same, but some have lower volumes - and I wasted time mining both, turns out. Please fix.

Agreed. With four variants of each ore plus compressed versions, traders may need up to eight orders per ore, making trading messy. This complexity also forced Mining Surveyer to use reprocessed value, since the market can’t handle pricing variants properly.

This. It’s annoying having three variations of the same rock sitting in my inventory at various stages of X/100. It also makes market management more of a headache. I don’t feel like +5/10% really matters enough to be worth the added complexity.

Even once you do get into the +15~20% range that just adds in the issue of cherry picking in what’s primarily a fleet based activity. (Solo mining isn’t worth the electricity you spend doing it.)

Let’s just simplify things and let miners grind no ore just extract ISK directly from the roids. And maybe to spice things up replace ice fields with gold roids from which you can directly extract PLEX from but at a very slow rate.
