Version 24.01 - Cradle of War - General Feedback

Finally, a player who actually thinks a bit more than all those cheap influencers calling themselves heroes, gathered here on this forum…
Besides, what could possibly motivate 2494 alts or separate players to do this, other than already being in the same alliance, and a sizable one at that, even before the release of said update…?
More seriously. Are you trying to pull the wool over our eyes? In reality, this is called insider trading, plain and simple…
QED!
Alright! 10 points for Erlendr Voidborn.
Fly safe, because that’s all that matters in the end in New Eden…

Regarding new epic arc… Dear FC, sorry, but this is an epic fail.

Why is that? Very simple: if you are making an arc set in a new player region, it is easy to assume, that arc is also inteded for new players, who just did racial set of career agents, right? Then why arc is balanced around T2-fitted hulls flown by pilots with near-perfect skills? Look at SoE arc, which is also designed for new players, look how it is balanced! You actually can complete it with meta 0 modules and not yet finished racial AIR enforcer or soldier of fortune series skill plan, but same cannot be said about this new arc.

Also, if arc is indeed made for new players, then why player is forced to rush with cross-training in to hulls and weapons of other empire factions or rely on expert systems?

Then come outright stupid design decisions, like forcing certain zoom limits and disabling tactical overlay. I don’t know, may be it looks fine with some UltraHD display, but with common FullHD it just sucks- try to play a very second mission with 24inch display, and please use your default GUI settings. Everything is good with situational awareness? Can you see a grid around you and all hostile NPCs orbiting your ship at 11-13km range? No, you can’t, unless you are panning camera like crazy.

Was the arc actually playtested? How it happens, that 2nd mission(caldari one) bricks itself even with all hostiles destroyed- just because player was slow, or warped off to re-ship, invite a friend to help etc?

Yeah, that’s not unreasonable imo.

Because they require the new mineral to get, not LP.

Above everything else in this expansion, I was really interested and looking forward to running the new epic arc…

However, the little bit of feedback I’ve seen about the new epic arc makes me want to avoid it at all costs, not to mention the entire Exordium Region…

I can only speak of the Gallente mining campaign.

Perhaps 4 hours of play, mixing 3 moissanite fleets between epic arc missions, is putting me over 18% done since launch of Cradle on Tuesday, and that is with two of the moissanite fields spawning in lawless insurgencies. We have a long time to go. Maybe after the initial surge, interest will wane. If I can reach the goal, it will take me a couple weeks casual play, since the respawn timer negates the possibility of racing. As players start hitting that limit, perhaps the Global Progress will slow down. However, I am surprised by the activity, I have fleeted with hundreds of players now. If you miss a field, it’s not a major blow to individual progress, seems like 2-4% each site.

I think the rewards are not particularly good. The cost of the crystal exchange is very steep. Those are the things I would change first.

No they are not. “Achievements” only offered for building cruisers, battlecruisers, battleships and a titan. Frigates and destroyers, barges/exhumers, haulers, etc, not covered.

Correct, not just the BCs and titans that you said originally.

I can’t find - are pre-patch-abyssal MWD’s now based on a new values, or an old ones?

What I meant was that once you’ve mined 180,000 units of ore, anything you do beyond that limit no longer counts toward the global objective. Without additional characters, the task can never be completed.

That’s why I said that 2,493.75 characters would need to participate in the objective for it to be completed and awarded as 1 campaign point out of the 30 required for the campaign.

So, more about new epic arc. Some statistics.

1st run, day 2 alpha character with minmatar AIR soldier of fortune skill plan trained ~85% to replicate really new guy; meta 0 modules obtainable in Exordium fitted. Fail of the 2nd mission despite of bringing in omega main to clear the last room. Alpha alt was obviously logged off after making a shared bookmark at the mission location and logged back after logging off omega main. Arc aborted, as average new player would very likely do. No caldari standings loss, fortunately.

2nd run, Omega main, perfect skills, T2 weapons and meta 3-4 lows and mids. Last mission bricked due to bugs. See reports:
-EBR-64002 - Visions of Greatness arc: entering custom orbit/keep at range values makes client unresponsive
-EBR-64003 - Visions of Greatness arc: re-logging or restarting the client bricks missions
…Eventually was able to complete run after DT.

3rd run, other omega main, near perfect skills, re-use of pre-fitted ships for 2nd run. Success.

Basically, from my observations, design of the arc missions is not robust, does not not have room for error, and must be played exactly in a way designer had in his or her mind. There are other very visible issues, and I do not understand, how QA team missed those.

Edit: observations were made before 2026-06-12.1 patch

So this huge list of changes to the new Epic Arc seems to be an admission of a broken release and zero playtesting having been done.
It should now hopefully actually be doable.

The new Gallente mission “Complete Basic Combat Missions” is even worse. A character can contribute 1 successful mission and 9500 are needed to complete the objective. So 9500 characters are needed. I don’t know who designed such campaign objectives, but I want some of the stuff they smoked while doing it.
But failure of the Gallente campaign is obviously planned anyway, because then the drone rewards become public for all factions via ORE shops.

Let us contribute to our faction objectives even when the personal objective is already fulfilled. I don’t care for titles and other rewards. I just want to have the chance to contribute to my chosen faction and get not the feeling you planned an intentional failure of a faction campaign.

Perhaps the missions are meant to be impossible to complete now, seeing as this is just the Cradle of War, perhaps we need to wait until we’re in the Nursery of War or the Schoolyard of War.

That’s at least a creative take on this hilarous objective design.

Simple. Because there was no QA done…

I think more in the direction that the written user stories to define what functionalities should be implemented were in such a “creative” way, that the QA team could not make much out of it.

In Norse mythology, Fenris is a gigantic wolf, son of the god Loki and the giantess Angrboda, harbinger of misfortune. His brother is Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, and his sister is Hel, who rules the underworld.

So, quite frankly, what did you expect after the already rather disappointing CCP era for tens of thousands of players, with this sequel developed by the son of the god of mischief, lies, deceit, and cunning?

Was not me old fruit… I was just correcting your correction

Thank you CCP. Now could you delete these unnecessary line breaks/empty lines in these notifications?
