Warp Load Ship Animation

Greetings Eve Council of Stellar management,

First, sorry for my English,
Second, here my feedback for Ship Animations

I like your sci fi setting and animations but one of this, I can bite myself.

What we have: if we start a warp to maybe a Stargate or station, then the warp load. The ship align to the point. Is the warp load at 100%, the ship going to warp. After this 100% start the animation for ships, weapons going in or at the retriever the mechanic going in the ship, during the warp.

I think that’s wrong because in movies or another games, if the ship load the warp process, then prepare the ship mechanism yourself for the warp, and start the ship into the warp, is the ship mechanic ready for warp.

I miss this in eve online.
I like the prepare animation for warp but not during the warp. I think the warp prepare mechanic in eve online should start if the player start the warp load process and if the player going in warp, then the ship is finished with her preparing.

I hope your understand what I am say.

Thanks and regards

As it is possible for ships to enter warp speed instantaneously (when they are already aligned) it would be impractical to do the warp preparation animation before warp starts as you often hit warp with 0 seconds to do the warp preparation animation.

This means the current way EVE does warp preparation is better.

Warping in EVE does not have one speed, it has an acceleration phase, plateau and deceleration phase.

Animations happen during the start of acceleration and the end of deceleration. And I think that’s fine.

The warp animation is just an animation. Nothing would be negatively affected if it started playing when you hit the warp to button rather than after you actually enter warp. Shuttles and travelceptors would still be playing the animation while they’re in warp, but that’s no worse than the current situation, while slower ships could pull their turrets behind covers, fold in antennae, turn on alert lighting etc while aligning. I think that would make warping feel cooler in heavier ships, a bit like entering witch space in a carrier in Elite, where the whole ship goes into a long preparing for jump animation, then during the jump the whole hull groans like it’s actually doing something strenuous.

While you’re right that that could work without issues, it would behave inconsistently when sometimes the animation happens after the warp started while sometimes the animation starts before warp started depending on how much time it takes to get into warp.

I prefer consistency.

After, like it does now, works fine and is more consistent.
