Funny, I miss when few could fly bigger than a battleship. Cruisers were the norm when I 1st started. A more even playing field?
I like being called a bitter old vet by new players since there were bigger bitter old vets back then!

I miss people having thicker skin, and not getting all tushy-troubled over loosing a ship, like it’s the end of the of the world or something.
The players are no different.
Actually, it’s always been that way TBH. It’s just gotten worse with the current generation of thin skin and entitlement. Instant gratification, the belief the world (and a game) should change exclusively for their own benefit, the lack of understanding that freedom of choice, belief, and path applies to all, not just them…you know.
It’s like going to a Hockey game, knowing full well what Hockey is, then complaining that it’s too violent and trying to get the NHL to change the rules of the game because it doesn’t suit them. Then, taking it a step further, attempting to sue the NHL for being “traumatized” by the violence they accepted when buying the tickets rather than going to a nice baseball or golf game. When anyone disagrees, tries to make reason with them, or offers an alternate perception or explanation… they are bigots, psychopaths, whatever-phobes, or bullies. Like a child throwing a tantrum. Sound about right?
People seem to forget that choice is for everyone and that choice comes with consequences or rewards. It seems acceptance that people don’t have control or say over everything is a virtue long gone yet it doesn’t change the facts or what something is. I think it’s an over-inflated sense of importance of opinion. There’s a word for this…Narcisism, which seems to be rampant these days.
What do I miss about Eve? TBH, it’s what I miss about Eve and everything else: The ability to play or do something how I want without others trying to dictate how I’m “supposed” to do it.
I miss flying with the “Old Breed” as well.
The calm voice of our FC as he called out orders. The calm voice of a fleet mate informing us he was going down, No panic, we knew we would lose ships. No grudges, well… For the most part anyway!
We would never have been as good as we were, and we would never have been able to punch above our weight class without that teamwork.
EVE was the tightest knit group of online players to me “at the time”. 60k and growing was just not good enough I guess…
You think its hard now, try keeping up with the players who could come up with this! Now thats thinking outside the box!
Meh…
