What do you think of ganking?

Asking a Frostpacker to send Princess Isk is becoming an eyesore.

Please move past this and have a good afternoon

Nobody’s asking, you will do it sooner or later, it is only a matter of time.

Now you understand what it’s like to see a wordsalad.

For posting a scene from such a bad movie with that terrible actor on scene you’ve eternally bound yourself to see such references about you sending ISK to Aiko. You did this to yourself.

Simply reducing the Concord response times by 30/50% would help solve it as well.

Rubbish.

If someone has just invested £100 into plex and then converted it into Isk to make a major purchase just for some dick to come along and blow it up just because “they can”, not for a strategic reason, or war reasons, I’d be pretty pissed off too.

Yes players get precious about what they’ve earned and saved to buy, just as in real life. It doesn’t matter if they’re 1’s and 0’s, it was their 1’s and 0’s.

That won’t bother some players, but some it will and it’s no good just coming out with the crappy “you’re playing the wrong game” ■■■■■■■■.

Players get invested into games they enjoy, whether it’s monetarily wise or down to sheer enjoyment of the game, it’s real when they lose what they worked for.

It’s at that point we risk losing players for good, and this game can’t afford to keep losing players and making the numbers up with alts.

I’ve been in a couple of corps that had players alts in and it’s annoying trying to have a conversation then realising it’s the same guy on 4 accounts.

Players like you are a blight on the game, not just this one but other games too and I hope that one day the door hits every one of you hard when you leave and it closes behind you.

Stealing is a suspect timer, not criminal.

Anyone can loot those cans, including allies of the killed player. The suspect timer means that the allies of the killed player can also freely shoot anyone else who tries to steal those contents.

I think shooting and destroying a player should simply trigger a suspect timer.

I can cast Release Soul Binding for 1 billion isk.

Why? Currently it is not even stealing. While someone has a criminal or suspect timer anyone can shoot and loot their stuff including their (blue) wrecks and jetcans, without CONCORD doing anything about it. Once their timer expires normal rules will apply again.

Grabbing loot from a normal wreck or jetcan like the victim of a gank and such (as well as shooting their deployables) is a suspect level offense. It is a reasonable part of the game to allow stealing and have the owner work for securing their belongings. It would be overreaction if this was turned into a criminal act.

I would go to new player systems and show them my cool new ship and oops a rat killed me oh no please can you go loot my wreck for me?

I made it yellow, so you can find it.

Or are the wrecks red now?

Well most new players wouldn’t even be able to set their safeties to red so don’t think many could even be able to fall for that trick even if they actually tried. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Yeah I guess if this change was implemented they should be red.

I am not following your train of thought here. The question at the top of this thread is what do you ( the reader ) think of ganking? I surmised in post 12, that the question is too simple, and one must apply a degree of definition to the ganker in question. This is also an ethics question, as @Ian_Zhang stated they ganked 2 miners and felt bad about it afterwards.

What wasn’t answered in more detail, what ships? Ventures, barges, etc. make a difference. Where did it occur? High sec, low sec, null? All of these factor into what type of ganking occurred. I went over my personal definitions about ganking in post 12.

This is my opinion and code of ethics. I am not forcing them on you or anyone else. Playing as John, I don’t cry when or if I get podded or killed. I just don’t respect those players as much as I do the others who are willing to take risks. If I am out belt ratting in my cruiser, I tend to feel sorry for miners I scare off by my arrival. On the other hand, I hold their awareness of their surroundings in high regard. When I am out seeking PvP, I don’t gate camp, I look for low sec gate camps and bust them up a bit. I’m in an armed ship and so are they, it is what I call PvP.

Nabi Kim you do your own thing.

It makes me really upset when people kill my king while playing chess. I mean it’s akin to murder killing my king! And don’t get me started on when I’m playing warhammer and people have the audacity to kill my Duke! These games need to be changed so that my pieces are invulnerable and can ravage the board in safety. I bet a lot more people would pay these war games if the rules were changed so that they never lost a piece.

(Hint EVE is a spaceship shooting game. How boring is a spaceship shooting game going to be if your spaceship is invulnerable to being shot? Would chess be fun if your king could never be taken? I think games without challenge would be boring. Your desire for a game with total safety is going to drive long-term players away.)

I always tell miners to calm down because I don’t want them to feel upset.

Threads like this feel like a comforable old sock when I come back to the EvE-O For 'Em.

A little itchy, probably has a spider in it, but fits nicely and hopefully I remembered to wash it last time I used it.

I don’t really care about ganking, but it is fun to laugh at them when they fail to gank a ship. All that work and they fail to ruin someone’s day :upside_down_face:

If they’ve invested their entire £100 in one ship, or cargo, that gets blown up then they are a fool and deserve their loss. I mean, £100 is about 18bn ISK. What are people flying…especially noobs…that they are losing all that in one go ? Even the loss of my most expensive ship ( probably the 1.7bn Nightmare ) would only be about 1% of my total worth. That is why I can waltz about EVE with a totally uncaring stance…with the loss of most of my ships being but a tiny fraction of my wealth.

So wait hang on

Hang on

So someone buys something with their disposable income…

And when it gets destroyed, we should feel sorry for them.

But when someone puts effort into something rather than just buying it…

That’s something that should be mocked?

Huh interesting work ethic there.

this is the soul of EVE. Idiots wasting money and being destroyed minutes later. The Soul of EVE will never change.

Naw if anyone is a blight is the idea that anyone in a game where things get blown up regularly. That player is now having a sad over a bunch of 1’s and 0’s. The game is an unforgiving of mistakes and if a player put that much money into a game. That something can be destroyed. That is again a them problem. Not anyone else problem.
