What is the best way to get people to join corps

Well this was my idea, but I discovered I don’t have the dedication to make a good corps work. This is the low calorie version of RvB.

Only fight each other in Corvettes unless there is a special, pre-arranged sitution. This isn’t about winning or losing. It’s about some cheap pew pew for fun, learning, and getting used to killing and dying. We have plenty of cheap fitting stuff.

Ask yourself why you would or would not join a corp.

Reasons for me to join a corp:

  • they do the kind of content I wish to do
  • nice helpful people
  • they are online when I am

Reasons for me to not join a corp:

  • spam recruitment mails
  • badly written corp name
  • drama
  • activity requirements

Different people will have different reasons, some people may not want tax, some want to fly in high sec and have structures but no war-eligibility, while others will want high SP requirements for their fellow corp members in order to fly more advanced ships.

I have never started a corporation myself, but I would look around what other corporations do or don’t do, pick a role for the corp that fits my playstyle and find other players that like that same playstyle, either by talking to them in space or on the forums. Or join some other corporations first to get a feeling of how it is done elsewhere before you start your own.

(And change the name! I wouldn’t want to be part of a group with a typo in the name.)

Honestly simply looking at the title of this post. Yes it’s step one getting the person to join your organization. Now how do you plan to retain them? As a person who has recruited casually for indy players I can tell you getting new guys excited about mining/building and all the peaceful aspects/business aspects of EVE pretty hard!

CCP has helped us out with the recent mining changes. Making mining more of a team activity.

The more effort and more polish you put into the corp you will stand out from the casual corps. Dedicated corps often have websites and look really professional! It takes time to build an organization it’s a shark tank out their people do actually come and check out your corp see who’s there.

80/20 rule. Do what gets you 80% of your goals achieved for only 20% of your energy. Saw it somewhere in my marketing classes. Maintain a recruitment forum post/in game corp ads are the best low effort things to get exposure. People do check out the discords and public chat. After that give them your pitch! What are your goals? What do you want your organization to accomplish? Be passionate about your beliefs. Often people are playing EVE so fast they want a huge corp in months! It takes time. People will stick to the organization because they may like you or your goals.

Somethings to take away in my long post.

  • Corp building takes time

  • Don’t stress about not getting people into your corp. Don’t change yourself or bend over backwards to keep people playing

  • Talor your message to every person. Not everyone might be a great fit for your corp.

  • Being a CEO is a full-time job it’s hard running a corp when you’re not present for a moon pop or a FOB bash. Being a chat box CEO in my view doesn’t help growth. (Incursions and guiding newbros is not a good mix eather XD)

For a while around 2018 I ran a small TF2 themed corp that appeared to attract burnt out NS bitter vets and reclusive traders/miners. I had great moons and infrastructure that attracted many. Sadly, as an incursion runner people lost interest in me simply stopped playing EVE. Being a CEO requires you to be a teacher and a mentor to anyone who joins. You can’t be a teacher if your just in chat box all the time. Now I help casually recruit new bros and anyone who likes to be a builder in EVE. As I don’t have enough time on my hands to grow the organization, I am in.

My two cents on being a CEO in my time in EVE. Sorry it got long hope someone draws from my experiences here as they attempt to build the next big orginzation.

i am and i made this corp before the cuirser

there are no captilas

Good luck to you.

Good stuff. The only thing I can think of to add is, make sure folks leave each comm session and operation feeling good about it. Did your fleet just get raped? “Hey guys. Was it good for you? It was for me. Har, har, har. Next time we’ll get Rooks and Kings to pipe bomb us.”
