I’m not far from retiring. No Man’s Sky beats this game in features by a long shot. You can get lost so easily in that game and never find your way back to where you started. And best of all, it’s easy to excel in that game without needing to multi-bot.
It would take me 3 mo of sub for my 3 accts to move and sell all my ■■■■. I keep tabs on how much I’m worth and it’s still climbing. That said, I’m leaning in the same direction.
I think you’re partly right. From what has been said by FC, the creation of Exordium was more about dispelling false impressions than eliminating actual dangers. Apparently, noobs tend to believe EVE is harsher than it actually is, so they may be overly cautious and risk averse. That excessive concern for safety leads to either boredom or anxiety, and them eventually quitting the game. Exordium is meant to fix the situation by assuring them they won’t get blown up by other players their first few days in the game.
It’s a case of perception equals reality. Actual ganking might not have driven new players away, but perhaps the fear of ganking did (if FC is correct, time will tell).
I found more entertaining the game when the Marauders where “buffed” and gankers would still try to pull me down in every possible way… Cats, Coercers, Dragoons, etc…
I didn’t notice how the gank part was also “nerfed” as I never played that role…
I just came back from an 8 hour shift where I moved some 3 Tons of planks, built three open Air chairs, had a girl recording the “Environment noise level” for whatever purpose, and you reminded me I never used nor ear plugs, nor a hat, nor a breather the whole time… and also my wage was “cut” for some reasons I wasn’t told in the End..
I bet there is a Ton of people out there that would not mind playing a relaxing game sometime,
with some touches of Entrepreneurship also, which don’t involve human contact at all…
I Don’t think Eve would benefit completely from this but it’s one of the best simulators
out there that don’t require you to have always a shovel in your hand, that reminds you of work..
This is why ganking is dying. If you have enough EHP, you automatically have built-in ISK protection for your ship. For example, in 0.9 high-sec - 450k EHP (even with a delayed CONCORD response) means your ship has to be worth 1.77 billion ISK - just for the gankers to break even on a 50% drop. Assuming they win, that is. With a minimum of 30 Stealth Bomber, 62 Catalyst or 72 Coercer pilots.
And these numbers don’t include any active or passive shield or armor boosting on your part (caught offguard) nor any errors (perfection) on the part of the gankers nor any gankers you happen to kill during the gank attempt.
If you don’t have any obvious weak holes (usually EM or explosive), you’ll almost always be a victim of Catalysts or Talos (thermal and kinetic via void). In short, stay the heck out of 0.5 or 0.6 space with anything blingy - and make sure you passive (not active) tank your ship. Gankers love active fits because it’s less effort and expense on their end!!
If you have enough EHP, you can essentially “gank-proof” your ship by limiting any ganks to a handful of groups that would have enough pilots to pull it off.
Just fly safe. Keep your ass in the cockpit and your hands on the controls, it’ll prevent a lot of avoidable incidents in space.
Most accidents only happen when nobody’s flying the ship. A ship left unattended may begin spinning uncontrollably and drift toward a stargate.
If the pilot is unavailable to regain control, responsible capsuleers are encouraged to protect gate infrastructure by promptly removing the unattended vessel from the overview.
I have the perfect example past game. Does not still apply.
Players were running T3s with new warp stabs and no one could catch them. Auto pilot to sta was just introduced. But not for this player! He sat still so long, I got a scout on him after doing an agent search. Eventually I showed up. He must have been on the shitter/blowjob. He/she wiped their asre fast enough to save the pod. Close call on that one as well.
I chose hard targets. CCP took that away. Best of luck to FC to fix player retention…
Yesterday, on 4/5 of the “Enemies” series, a Damavik decided he’d partake in a bit of flashy theft. I normally let thieves have their way, but this time I didn’t. While he was preoccupied looting and dodging NPC aggro, I brought a PvP fit Kronos in and drove him off (he escaped, just barely). My mission ship went on to the next gate and I waited. Patiently…
Greed overtook the better part of discretion and upon warping back in with more theft at the forefront of his mind, he got scrammed, webbed and blown apart in short order.
Only a 100m ISK kill - but it felt so well-earned. The irony is that he’a probably more risk averse now…
