You wouldn’t be on this forum if you didn’t enjoy EVE. It won’t ever get better if you play for free, and $15/mo is next to nothing.

nothing hostile about pointing out the truth to a player that’s been here long enough to know better.

perhaps the OP should have been flagged as yet another EVE is dying thread and not those pointing out the obvious.

Reasons:

  • To climb from 5M SP to 20M SP (1 year);
  • To evolve from 20M SP further. Alpha is the end of evolution;
  • To farm SP and then to sell L/S Skill Injectors of useless SP;
  • To unlock other 70% of fly styles with T2, T3, Cap;
  • To unlock other game styles: advanced mining, industry, science and invention, PI, anchoring (corp engineer roles), special fleet roles, marketing, hauling (jump), reactions, advanced exploration;
  • To unlock other Alts with Omega abilities;
  • To evolve PVP and especially solo-PVP;
  • To perform lvl 5 missions, Epic Arcs and Burner Missions;
  • To unlock WH-4 or above restrictions;
  • Maybe for Incursions the current Alpha is ready.

Because my characters have considerably more than 20 million SP and I like having access to all of those SP.

Maybe you don’t, but that’s fine. Stop paying, but you don’t have to a jerk about it.

Why not pay a subscription?

Kid eve online is totally free to play even when you fly Titan or Punisher still free to play, and has been free to play since 2007 in my memory when i starting. Take a punisher go FW to plexing and make your way to omega like a pro. Is the only game you can pay subscription with ingame currency. If you cant deal with this, eve is not for you. Your incentive here is use bad ass ship can kill all people like Kronos. Is the same like to have a lvl 80 dwarf wherever with shiny armor.

You are talking nonsence becouse you dont understand game mechanics, EVE is not easy, has harcore pvp, need dedication and mastering reason why it has the older player database in history of mmorpg.

Access to passive ISK that range into the billions, Titan ships that can one shot anything an Alpha can fly, Stronger Weapons/Ships, Better skills so you are always stronger in the same fitting as a non-sub, skill que greater than a day, can manufacture better equipment, get better mining ships, better drones for true AFK mission running, faster skill learning, multiple character training, other stuff that I don’t know.

I am an alpha and do not know all the ways or even these as well as an omega

Then use greatest secret to learn eve online and become billonaire!

OP I think you are very wrong. The reasons are multiple and complex, its not a single thing or a single factor. I’ll list some of them for you in no particular order and try to stay objective:

Game demographics have progressed and changed - boys and girls and college kids of the past have grown up, have jobs, families etc. This greatly limits the time they can spend in a game and they go to the games that are far more entertaining then this while work out for them in their adult schedules much better.

Competition - Somewhat related to the above in that time consumption is one of the things the competition does better at then this game, but the overall bottom line is that there are plenty really good PvP games out there across a myriad of genres. Add to that much better PvX experiences where the 2 are mixed (PvE and PvP) much better, and there isn’t too much for to stay here except general theme and past nastalgia.

Giant null sec blobs - this is a huge turn off from this game.

Bots, hacks etc. - Mining bots (across all regions but most prominent in null sec), ratting bots (mostly null sec / wormhole), market bots (mostly high sec), AFK Cloaky bots (mostly null sec with some low sec, either used for intel to secure the otehr ratting / mining bots or intel to hunt the ever more rare legit player). Multiboxing bots of various functions.

Bad mechanics making a lot of people quit - multiboxing requirements to complete content, wardecks, AFK cloaky bots, etc.

Unattainable goals - CCP seems to continuously raise the power creep bar with things such as faction caps / titans, NS ISK faucets that require multiboxing / botting, etc. etc. New players leave not immediately when when the realization of it hits them, can be a few weeks but it seems to be more towards a few months after start.

Inability to experience game “as a whole” on a single toon within reasonable timeframe. You need to have different characters for different functions in this game if you get serious. Need a trade alt with faction standings and full trade / social skills, need 2-3 combat alts simply because of the amount of time they take to train various functions to be fully effective, need a mining alt if thats what a player wishes to do, scanning alt for WH etc., indy alt for indy stuff, etc. etc. If you legitimately train all those to the fullest it will take many years. That is just too daunting and many people get turned off from the game.

Bad combat mechanics, especially in PvP - This game needs more mechanics that allow few to take out many, much like smart bombs and pipe bombing, need LOS, friendly fire all that stuff that is just missing from here now.

Also, need to put a serious cap on how many blues a player can have, for example 500, or 700, that in itself would create some very interesting ingame scenarios.

if the game turns to a complete f2p game do you really think the servers will last?

I can tell you now they wont, they’d be lucky to last 6 months to a year trying to continue as they are. There are limited funds made from the game and even less than it used to be due to the decreased amount of people purchasing plexes compared to what it used to be and not to mention the introduction of incursions making it more easier for players to obtain isk to plex their accounts.

This game isnt exactly the best type of game for in game purchases either as there are no real disposable items other than plexes being changed into subs and skill extractors. you cant buy ships, you cant buy boosters… ship skins and character clothing are perm. Fireworks are a joke not even worth wasting money on, so basically limited returns from in game purchases.

I personally sub to eve because they deserve it, this game has been going for about 15 years now and they put in a lot of effort to try and improve each factor when they can. On top of that those people who are paying sub fees and buying plexes are pretty much paying for those f2p players to have fun because without them there would be no servers.

Unfortunately its not yet fully f2p.

Market broken is it?

I’m talking about with real money not isk. Having the ability to buy limited ships similar to the gnosis in game with real money could potentially open up their nex market more and provide a greater income for them but they dont do it. A good example of this in action is the BSG mmo.

Sell PLEX buy ships.

Whats the issue?

Wrong…

I play Dofus and you can use in game currency to purchase Ogrines (plex) and use them to purchase game time.

I have no doubt there’ll be more out there as well.
