To get from Exordium to Jita, the normal shortest highsec route appears to send you through Uedama.
That seems like an odd design choice.
CCP just created a protected starter region to reduce early-player friction, but then placed its main outside connection in a way that pushes traffic toward one of highsec’s most notorious ganking chokepoints.
Was that just an unavoidable geography issue, or was keeping that risk on the route intentional?
It feels like CCP is trying to treat the symptoms of new-player anxiety while leaving one of the causes sitting on the main road to Jita.
^ This ^ Im pretty sure its intentional. It should be intentional.
This will obviously be another teaching point to the new folks if they wish to listen. Im sure there will be stragglers along the way that wont follow that Uedama path though.
However, if some of them choose not to take any constructive advice then theyll certainly meet their maker in either Uedama or even Sivala.
As i mentioned, it needs to be this way. Once you leave that zone, danger should emit from anywhere, anytime as intended.
Nonsense. Gankers are a minority, hence they can’t be loud even if they complained. And they don’t cry when CCP nerfs their gameplay (which happened so many times during last 3 years). They adapt and continue doing what they were doing.
If Uedama is turned into 0.9, then all the ganking will happen in Sivala. Not a big deal really.
Then we gank in Juunigaishi, Haatomo and Ikao. If all systems on the route are 0.9. Then we PLEX more accounts and switch doctrine to Thrashers for less tanky stuff, Tornados for more tanky stuff and Cenotaphs for freighters. Even if it would be at a loss. Perhaps it would cause less ganking in general, but won’t stop us.
Oh I get it. All the changes since the alpha ganking nerf are heading towards removal of ganking in highsec. I fully expect that to happen, eventually. Then I will be finally able to stop playing this game and have a life. I am looking forward to it.
We had this discussion already last year. The antigank crowd heavily pushed the narrative about ganking getting massive buffs every year to the point I gave up on the discussion because it wasn’t a discussion at all. Again we are minority, nobody will really make a stand for us. Hard fact is that there was no change in a history of EVE directly intented to buff gankers in any way. Yes some changes did buff gankers because they gave them more damage or new ship to gank with like ENI and Cenotaph (before it was directly nerfed exactly because it was used in ganking to oblivion) or that gave us a faster way to fix our security status back up. None of these changes were made with gankers in mind, they were made to shake up meta (damage/ship values) and make unused ships great again (ENI) or badly thought of new content (Cenotaph) or for lowsec players (tags). And that covers all indirect buffs. The list of direct nerfs to ganking is huge. But we adapted everytime. Even making all systems into 0.9 won’t stop us. I doubt that any ganker would quit. All the casual gankers already quit during last 3 years thanks to constant nerfs to this gameplay. Only the diehard players remained and until the ganking is completely removed from hs, they will keep ganking no matter the adversity.
What do you mean. Ive always said that. Ive always supported ganking…ive always supported danger in this game. Its why ive been here for so long. Ive not once screamed to the heavens about making this game safer. What i have preached…or have tried to no avail…is not to go completely sideways with all the ghost theories and wild assumptions until we actually see how FC will deal with the all the rumored restrictions.
Some folks here are just refusing to give the slightest benefit of any doubt of how this will be handled…no matter the bad reputations that have shadowed this game for many years.
Heaven forbid a game try to change anything without its diehards chanting in tongues about the universe burning down. shrug
Going from Jita to anywhere else is going to have people either going through low sec or Uedama. There really isn’t a way to not have a route lead through it. If Manifest was on the Jita side, then all the other 3 empires would have to go through Uedama. Uedama is a Caldari issue, just like Gheth is for Amarr (until next week). Or Coliele or Deltole between Minmatar/Gallente.
“… We’re actually making it more connected to all the Empires in the expansion by adding a few new stargates outside of Yulai as well. We’re doing things like adding a direct connection between Caldari space and the CONCORD constellation in Genesis, and we’re adding a new connection that allows you to get from highsec Genesis to other areas of highsec Amarr space …”
So just wait until June 9th and this issue will likely be resolved.
Yes the forum posters are divided about to halves to destruction supporters and perfect safety supporters.
But what I mean is that if some ganker posts about some ganking nerf being unfair or too harsh, nobody will stand for him. So we don’t bother even if that makes absolutely no sense like not being able to dock in the citadel put up by our corporation. We suck it up and adapt.
