I am genuinely excited about this. HS mining has been a pain for a long time
I’d happily raise prices if this means less minerals by creating a mini game.
That doesn’t happen though.
Maybe don’t do this and focus more on the game?
Also, you now have 8 cycles on your covetor instead of 2, so maybe you check on cycle 6 or 7 and compress then?
Leave it to an Eve Miner to complain about free ore because it makes them put in even the slightest amount more effort.
Will there be critical hits for gas mining too?
Mostly gas mining dont get the bonuses that ore get.
Edit: i just see gas dont. As predicted…
Got it. Stop mining, go back to exploration. Understood.
If I wanted to be actively engaged in the game there are considerably more lucrative activities than mining. The type of engagement CCP are pushing on mining is exactly the type of activity that bots are optimal to deal with. That’s the issue. I’m not saying that everything should be brainless, I’m saying that creating artificial challenges that are best solved with automation is actively pushing users towards automation.
Let me restate, leave it to the Eve Miner to whine about putting in even a single erg more effort and blame CCP for catering to bots.
I believe they are actually best solved with not being AFK
Not really. There are gameplay challenges that require a degree of active management to respond to and there are gameplay challenges that require an easily scripted response. Adding a randomizer to ore holds filling up is the latter. It is not a good attention check.
I don’t see anything controversial about wanting the game mechanics to reward human players over bots.
Just so. Overhaul mining such that it can’t be done AFK and you will automatically solve most of the issues. Yeah botters will figure out ways to automate it, they always do, but if someone is getting max score on the Mining 2.0 minigame across ten accounts on one IP, you can just autoban him for botting it.
I think it’s a nice attention check. Worst case is you lose some yield as inattentive multiboxer.
And people who do pay attention can make use of it.
I just wonder if the impact is big enough to really matter. After all at the current rates crits only add 3.75% yield. An inattentive multiboxer could just ignore it while they add account #11 for 10% more yield instead.
Give Eve a process check. If your browser header ever loads Netflix, you’re autobanned.
Miners, AKA the people who are little better than the NPCs in the game, shouldn’t complain about botting.
Will there be a 2nd test server b4 Catalyst comes out, to actually do a hands on test of the new ships?
Players already have external 2D maps and tools to among other things find the optimal asteroids for mining, so adding that to the UI isn’t a true expansion. A simple ISK/m³ column in inventories would be a real expansion and it doesent seem too late to add it.
doubtful, i don’t recall when any of the new ships came out, they let anyone test them..
No one cares about isk/m3, that’s why.
I’ve played here off and on for two decades now, and not once has that ever been a consideration that I wasn’t already aware of going into the activity.
It seems essential to be able to sort loot by Isk/m3
If this ISK/m³ stuff is just about your Heron running out of cargo bay after a few event sites, the answer is to throw the fireworks out.
It seems useful for looting any kind of wrecks
