What’s the policy on trading real world services for ISK. I’m a writer and I’ve been playing around with the idea of selling my services for ISK, similar to how I sell them to other people online for real world currency.
Is there anything in the EULA that would make this type of trade “illegal”?
You may not advertise, employ, market, or promote any form of solicitation – including pyramid schemes and chain letters – in the EVE Online game world or on the website.
You may not market, sell, advertise, promote, solicit or otherwise arrange for the exchange or transfer of items in the game or other game services unless it is for in-game sales of in-game services or items.
The advertisement or sale of out of game goods and services not directly related to EVE Online is prohibited. The only out of game goods and services which can be advertised or sold for in-game currency or assets are the following: EVE forum signature creation, EVE related websites, EVE related artwork, third party voice communication server hosting, or EVE Time Codes.
I see also guys selling their excel skill-set providing for instance trade-sheet for ISK , your services looks like it.
But services like online casino were shutdown due to IRL laws in gaming.
We can imagine one day someone selling pizza for isk
I don’t really know where CCP put the limit, certainly where real money is exchanged
but something like barter is an “acceptable” grey zone .
It can be considerer like illegal work , so as long as CCP don’t explicite their rules ,
you can think it is ok .
I am guessing you’ll be fine as long as no more than xxx reports are made against you
To give you the short version; Yes you can offer your RL services, as long as it directly involves EVE in one way or another and that it does not involve any form of Pyramid scheme or chain-letters. Only the ingame currency, ISK, may be used for payment of such services.
Common RL services offered by players, may include but not limited to:
Video production (Corp intro, recruitment and more…)
Corp/Alliance creation (if you don’t have skills for it)
So if you want to offer your skills as a writer and want to write people’s story for them, it’s well within the EULA to do so. If you have any more questions feel free to ask, or if you’re still in doubt then you can always contact customer support and get an answer straight from CCP.
