That’s because running anoms in carriers is broken in terms of how much isk you earn from it. Why do anything else?
CCP has a long term thing of players telling them what they want and CCP goes “no you don’t want that, what you really want is this” than they turn around and go “we gave you guys what you want why are you not doing the content” to “due to not enough people using “this” content we feel it is a waste of resources and holding the game back, so we are going to remove it”
for a recent example just look at Resource wars. Older players don’t want to run it because there’s no reward, newer players don’t want to run it because there’s no reward, players suggested what needed to be done and got shot with “new players wouldn’t know what to do with all that isk” followed by about a month after introduction “due to not enough players running the content we are scrapping resources wars but keeping the program for the event team for future event possibilities”
I’ll be waiting for CCP to come out about the lack of player interest on these sites in time.

The market crashed a week ago. The T1 filaments are worth less than 2m each.

What’s the isk like from a T1 site? I’m tempted to run a site, but don’t want to splurge big on a Gila just to test something out.

Nothing remarkable. Ran about 4 sites so far, average loot is in the 0m-20m range. So 10m on average.
Running Abyssal filaments beats L4 missioning for ISK/hr at present. Whether this will hold is anyone’s guess.

All tiers. Just depends on the drops.
LOL, beating Level 4 income with Tier 5 filaments wouldn’t be very impressive, whereas doing it with Tier 1 filaments would be a reason to run them! 
I’ve beat L4 income with F1-F2 filaments. As I said, it really depends on the loot drops. Last night I made over a billion ISK for an hour session - but this is the exception rather than the rule.
And Behold CCP lookth upon the masses losing billions in abyssal sites and found this pleasing, hence they cometh upon a plan to give everyone a filament (really just targeting those that havent run one yet) such that more billions could be destroyed.
Isnt that really what ‘events’ seem to have become.

You sold loot and earn a billion or loot in cargohold is worth a billion, because the latter is not worth that much on market, especially filaments.

Interesting thing, only losers whine here, people which earn real money in abbys do not post anything. Maybe they are too much preocupate running abyssal sites.
