Dear Sir, thats wrong on so many points…
Thats wrong. My original argument was “Someone that rich should have the experience and tools to avoid such ganks.”. Someone who loses a ship with more than a billion ISK in cargo does not receive any mercy because the loss is - for the most part - his own fault. I know enough people who ship billions of ISK from A to B in EVE and they do not get ganked at a scale that it would be in any way a significant threat to their gameplay. Do clever decisions and you mostly keep your stuff. You can, of course, be very unlucky despite all effort to minimize the risk and just meet the wrong guys at the wrong time at the wrong place and die because they simply want you to die and don’t care about the effort to gank you, yes. But that happens to everyone in EVE from time to time and is not even worth debating. But if you lose ships to that on a regular basis, you clearly do something very wrong and that has nothing to do with eHP on the ships but greed and sloth.
At first, that is a claim. Nothing more. The economy would just adapt and some prices for goods that are harder to ship would go up. No problem with that on my part. I see absolute zero evidence for it being absolutrly desastrous for anyone if you couldn’t buy everything for the absolute cheapes price in Jita. Not that it would matter, because as said above, if you really really want, you actually CAN transport many billion ISK in these ships without being ganked every day. Just do it right and don’t complain if you can’t go through ganking hotspots on the shortes route with just “warp to gate” while having the majority of your investments in that ship and a loss would severely cripple your gameplay. Thats just a stupid decision, so don’t do it.
Debatable. No one ‘needs’ to do anything. You can of course do it, but don’t complain if that goes wrong at some point. Someone who accepts a courier contract with many hundred million collateral for a few million reward is just stupid. Ignore these contracts. Don’t risk your ships hauling other ppls ■■■■ around for laughable profits. That also goes for your own trading: If you need to buy stuff for many many Billion ISK to ship that to another station along a ganking-route just to make “decent isk/hr” you should just consider to stop that. Ist pure nonsense, but in my opinion that is not your real intention of the complaint. You like to do it, because you can just "buy, undock, set destination, and the ship flies afk or with absolute minimal effort (warpto next gate…). That what I said above. Greed and Sloth, no mercy. There are ways to make way more than “decent isk/hr” with DSTs or Freighters, just not semi-afk, but with way higher profit margins.
I don’t move the goals, I aim for balance. If a group of ppl put the efforts together to set up a fleet, find a target, invest in their ganking ships and correctly execute their strat, they should have a fair chance to get the kill. It should not be too easy, but coordinated work should have a reward. Which means I am totally okay if enough Gankers can wreck any DST or freighter, I just want to know which number he would find adequate. All this ISK/ehp-Ganking-Costs are just stupid, because that refers only to what I said above: Its calculated for an absolutely helpless target moving semi-afk among the wolves. Just don’t be that target.
Last but not least: We seem to have absolutely different views on hauling stuff, how it is done professionally and which options the hauler has (and should use!) to counterplay the group-efforts of the gankers. If you insist that it “has to be possible to move a billion ISK in a DST solo from Amarr to Jita by just moving from Gate-to-Gate”, well then I fear we will never find a common ground.
