i still cant log in from my pc (couldnt in the last 4 hours), i even cant add account - cant join to login server. I even cant log in at eve-online.com. interesting. on my mobile net from my phone i can log inā¦

I have to say, although Iād always take free SPs, that they shouldnāt give more this time, because then it becomes an incentive for even more DDoS attacks. Then we get DDoS attacks because some guy thinks itās a cool way to get something free from CCP.
I hope they will eventually get the people who do this. Here in the UK as well as in the US are DDoS attacks a crime punishable by law from what I understand.

Agreed about the SP.
On the other hand, I donāt think this would be a viable stratgy to get free SP, because itās not worth the effort.
I think the most realistic scenarios for this DDoS are:
- super salty individual who hates EVE Online
- hackers trying to use DDoS for anything from flare to a bunch of attack scenarios that need people to disconnect from servers
- business competition of any kind (not sure who that could be)
Whatever it is, all the CCP-blaming in these threads make it worse and not better.
If the attacker is a salty individual or business competition it will be their first goal to bring up the playerbase against CCP. Anyone who comes here and blames CCP for the attack on them, is pretty much encouraging further attacks.
Chillax. Use the time to read up on the different kind of DDoS attacks, what the mitigation challenges are in each case and why there is no way to completely avoid/mitigate these attacks unless you cut your internet connection. The defender is always at the disadvantage.
Yeah itās illegal in the EU as well. If the people behind this are from the US and they get caught, theyāll face pretty drastic punishment. In the EU it will probably be a couple of years.
Without knowing details about the attack, there is no way to tell about the chances to get them. I mean people can literally rent a botnet for this kind of crap these days and unless the police is onto those anyway, I guess chances are low that they get caught.
Anway: this is an attack not on CCP, but on all of us. We should not blame the company under attack, we should show that this kind of crap will not divide the playerbase. No outside attacker or salty player should be able to manipulate us against the game we love.

There were always those whoāre saying EVE is dying, putting the blame in regards to the crashes and DDoS attacks on the company and itās people. I wouldnāt stress about it.
CCP has been doing fine work (with itās ups and downs) for over a decade and is continuing to do so. But there will always be people who will rather turn to rage than support. Canāt change it, so thatās fine. Canāt have everyone like you anyways. Itās notā¦normal.

One guess: S*** C****** group [decided to edit it so not to put direct pressure on the accused]. They are not so keen on being nice even when the companies are being nice to each other. Not trying to say that they are all bad, but there is a vocal negative group there that can fit this category.
