Eve has always stood out and has been flaunted for its sandbox appeal. Recent development, and even player requests for development, have tended to lean further and further towards sponsored, predictable or on-demand, and automated NPC generated content.
I guess what my question is: Is CCP working too hard to create the structures, path and rules to meet player expectations, rather than introducing the tools, worlds, and opportunities of a true sandbox experience? (i.e. wormholes versus fully developed triglavian instanced content; or burner missions versus a journey through landmarks and story filled epic arcs.)
lots of acronyms, and no meaning.Even with reading what lead me to here i couldnt figure it out.I wont be there, So my opionion is that your wasting time again. You have takened so from the game that was fun, nerfed it or even deemed it no worthy of having anymore.Maybe you need to rethink your future stages ,glancing back to keynotes …observatory…i dont even know what they plan to do with it ,seems like you would sit in it and watch right big fun…my point is your turned eve into something else .I do not need to attend these things,we dont care about big numbers cause you will kill that with TIDI, ,we all know how those big alliance influence the decisions and i hope they pay your bills for a long time, and i think most of us are now seeing how great you have made the game ,to the point ,you really got to work on some stuff.Still you want to tie our hands more ,take us from playing what little bit is left of EVE that we play. Tis the End.Goodbye Eve you were great for little while .
Do we have any plans to implement a distributed game engine like the Aether engine and what would a conservative time-frame for that?
From what we saw in the tech demo I would say that Aether has at least 2 years before it is ready to be implemented in a new game much less an older mmo that is expected to be stable and smooth.
If not Aether, what is a new, major piece of engine tech do you hope to be able to test for possible deployment in New Eden?
Can we please have capitals be disabled in Low sec so that Low sec alliances/corps can actually have some autonomy?
Null sec bloc groups and some smaller oppressive groups fly super capitals and capitals that essentially force any local low sec groups to become client corps or alliances to either major bloc. There is no sense of autonomy in low sec especially if you are with in any jump range raidus of their capitals or black ops ships.
You can’t put a keepstar in lowsec because tons of people will show up with supers if you don’t make it a free port, or don’t prohibit one group from using it that is the enemy of x null sec group. Low sec groups have no autonomy.
Are you lot going to answer any hard questions or are you going to do what you did last time and only entertain soft questions and ignore the good ones and or laugh and joke about it and pass it off as answered?
I enjoyed being able to walk around with my character in a station, it added some flavour and immersion to the game. Will we be able to do something similar in the future?
Is there any plans to improve null sec npc entities?
i’m talking specifically about factions like mordus legion and SOE. There is a cosmos agent in 5zxx that doesnt provide any missions, there is no level 5 agents, the only interaction you have with mordus is in the station actually… compared to pirate null sec space, where you can have the npc on your side, those 2 constellations clearly lacks polishing.
and it’s a shame since they produce the most used faction ships. 'BTW i understand that SOE being a exploration organisation lorewise, they don’t have capital ships, but mordus is clearly a military entity, what about them? (to put those LP to better use than crashing the garmur price )
Why go with Hadeon over an established distributed computing company like Improbable.io?
Building off that question, how is a game coded in Stackless Python going to even benefit from something like Aether or SpatialOS? The limitations and bottlenecks occur on the code level, not the kernel.
Second question, assuming somehow that Aether Engine did boost performance with it’s “custom OS” built for Eve…what is the anticipated load improvement compared to a more drastic scenario such as re-coding the game in a less ancient language actually up to industry standards? Do you hope that you will be able to increase the tickrate of the game?
Are you worried about other MMOs in development on platforms like SpatialOS outpacing CCP? Games are rapidly opening public betas that support 100, 500, 2000 players on a single shard, and none run at 1 tick per second or have TiDi.
Is it your intent to continue to let the CSM ‘represent’ the playerbase even though the CSM is owned by dullsec and even most of dullsec isn’t actually represented since most of the CSM is held by only members of the goonswarm federation?
Will you continue to wonder year after year why player retention is a problem while giving so much power to control the development of EVE to a group that has an agenda counter to that of most of your playerbase.
Will you continue to naively allow the dullsec controlled CSM to push EVE in a direction that ignores most of its playerbase to the detriment of EVE, to the detriment of most of eve’s playerbase, to the detriment of player retention, to the detriment of the financial health of both CCP and Pearl Abyss or will you finally disband any and all forms of discourse that basically is or mimics the CSM as it currently exists.
Without strong and equally apportioned voices from wormholes, lowsec and highsec EVEs general development will continue to get worse and worse, player retention will forever be a problem since the frustration we, ‘non-dullsec’ players feel is completely unheard since you listen only to the CSM.
Actions that you, CCP, have taken like adding NPC miners to strip asteroids in highsec space when, ‘empty asteroid syndrome’, was already a problem in highsec, especially if your mined in highsec near daily downtime, only adds to our keen sense of frustration and evidentially supported belief that you basically loath our very existence.
EVE started off as a hardcore game with a HTFU attitude. Do you feel the game is still as hardcore as when it started and are you happy with the current direction of EVE.
Do you think skill injectors have been good for the game other than a financial benefit to CCP as a company.
Also, the Rorqual Capital Tractor Beam is essentially useless at the moment, would turning into an AoE version of a standard tractor beam for pulling in wrecks and then creating a Capital Salvager that AoE salvages wrecks be something worth doing?
Could we have an update on talks to obtain funding to produce an EVE Online TV series or movie? While “epic sci-fi action” is expensive to produce, a character focused drama could be a lower-budget starting point.
very much yes. especially when mixed with pork sausage…
It’s never changed in 15 years. careful what you wish for, they could raise it. $14.95 for 30 days is still not bad.
Question: I know in the past it’s been said that missions would not be revisited. Would it be possible to have help from PA to go back and write some new missions or revise payouts etc of missions?
