2020/01/27 & 28 - TQ under DDoS

No google stuff in my posts or they would probably be better written.
I’m not a network person but I know how to tracert from multiple sources.
Arins and whois displays the ownership information based on the circuit ID.
Simple programs like NeoTrace can be used locally too for getting details on ‘stuff’ like this.

The IP of Tranquility and other CCP servers is available and easy to obtain so anyone can run a cmd and tracert to the IP of the server in question.

Typical ping times for me are 5-40ms across the entire route. At the moment, the second IP in France is unstable and pinging at 350-500ms and timing out.

Normally if the issue is with CCP I see issues in London after the Level3 IP’s. Yesterdy and today I see issues long before London.

Sorry for being so long winded. I’ll stop posting now. : )

that was kind of my theory…easy isk boost across the board or skill bumps for everyone missing out on all these hours of play time lol

Yes it’s still a speculation but a lot more than “bc is DDOS tell use more dont google” posts. I just wanted to ask how do you know about drop rates and delays of packets destined to CCP at different hops but you partially answered. Defining ‘clean blocks’ for normal routes is somewhat close to whitelisting remote endpoints on CCP devices which would not help if you are right. I still have doubts though but we know very little about what’s actually happening.

im half tempted to say the pipe to CCP’s servers is fat enough to absorb most DDOS personally…we never had problems like this when i used to play back in 07 etc with more concurrent connections…

Nah it isn’t long-winded, it is a thorough and detailed answer which is a hell of a lot more preferable than the usual crap you get here.
And Tracert is cool but it is not always constant but yeah it will give you a very good idea. As for the French issue, there is a big problem atm as I understand it bouncing through France towards India which may explain that particular hotspot. No guarantees though. The problem that can cause is if the funneling from the various source nations concentrates there as it gets closer to the London destination cos coupled with the other issue it just makes it all crappy.
It all comes down to being annoyed though really. This stuff happens but it is the concentration of it in such a short period that is beginning to grate on everyone’s nerves I think.

I think that is because 10+ years ago, people were no where near as tech savvy and opportunity to obtain access to a hacked network of PC’s was limited and difficult.
Today, it isn’t unheard of to buy access to someones ‘backdoor’ to millions of compromised computers and point them at a server. Probably costs less than a fraction of a bitcoin to initiate a DDOS attack like this.

I do hope they cease with the attack or it gets filtered out pretty quick though. I would much rather be playing EvE than posting in the forums. : )

to laggy to even mine, any new updates?

Still getting consistent disconnects, even with only 16k players online.

The constant DCs and chat issues are ridiculous. This issue has been going on way to long.

Cool.

Please contract all your stuff ingame to “FairyTail Omaristos” before you leave pls ty.

Did I say I was leaving? I’m sure you think you post is funny and in some way helpful but the fact is the issues with disconnects and chat issues make the game unplayable.

Look at this piece of crap who does not understand what a DDOS is.

Nope. Wasn’t funny. Bc not a joke.

I NEVER joke about having some whiny loser contract me their stuff before their own entitlement causes them to rage-quit.

Never.

NOT EVER!!!

Eve is under a direct attack by hostile entities. Somehow CCP is keeping the game online, mostly. You come on the forums to whine? What sort of response were you expecting? You suck, man.

He is still more funny and useful than a clown who take the time to write a complain post but do not take the time to search the reason why those problems are currently occuring.

Ah, this explains what’s happening. I’m cool as long as I don’t lose my Orca due to this…
Is there a post or link that can show us realtime updates on issues like this (well, besides here I suppose :))

Well no matter how you skin it , Eve is becoming not worth playing…ddos or for whatever reason. Either CCP figures out how to correct the problem, gives us credit for time we can’t play or gets out of the game business entirely. Hopefully they can shut the door on whomever is causing the problem.

I was having some difficulties with Local and inordinate lag last night. I was getting paranoid that I was being targeted because of some political comments I made on YouTube channels.

I now know that EVE is being targeted in order to get to me. I apologize to all of you who are collateral damage because I dared raise my voice against ignorance and vile misinformation.

My choice is clear, EVE or freedom of expression?

(renews EVE online subscription for another 6 months…)
