With Empire celebrations becoming are common sight across New Eden, I found myself wondering if perhaps those of us who live beyond the borders of nations, corporations, and thrones should have a day of our own.
Perhaps it is time for the rest of us to celebrate as well.
I would like to propose September 19th as a potential community holiday for independent capsuleers, free captains, entrepreneurs, explorers, smugglers, pirates, salvagers, artists, and anyone else who has chosen to make their own way through the cluster.
Rather than politics or national identity, the focus would be on the culture of New Eden itself: ships, art, music, competition, stories, and the people who make this cluster worth living in.
To help get things started, I am willing to personally sponsor several competitions and provide prizes.
Poster Contest
Create a poster representing the spirit of independent capsuleers, outlaw culture, freedom, adventure, or life beyond Empire borders.

Pirate of the Year Pageant
New Eden has no shortage of beauty contests, so why should outlaws be left behind?
Contestants are invited to present themselves in whatever manner they believe best represents the spirit of a true pirate capsuleer. Style, charisma, reputation, attitude, public image, and overall presence will all be taken into consideration.
Portraits, glamour shots, interviews, promotional campaigns, public appearances, ship showcases, and shameless self-promotion are all encouraged.
After all, being a pirate has never been only about the ships.

Additional activities could include ship races, fireworks displays, live performances, and whatever other madness the community wishes to organize.
At this stage, this is simply a proposal.
If there is enough interest, I would be happy to help organize the event and expand the prize pool with additional sponsors.
After all, if every Empire can celebrate itself, surely New Eden’s free spirits deserve at least one day of their own.

Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but the more I see Empire celebrations filling the calendar, the more I feel that independent capsuleers deserve something too.
Just something that belongs to us.
I’d genuinely like to know if this is something people would be interested in. Because if it is, I’d love to make it happen.
It doesn’t seem entirely fair that every nation in New Eden gets a day to celebrate its culture while the people who live between those borders get none at all.
