A lengthy rant about bubbles in FW

bubbles don’t belong in low sec. PERIOD.

it just hoovers up content to the tiny group that are bubbling chokepoints. meanwhile everyone else participating in faction warfare suffers from boredom and a lack of gfs. can’t have a gf if people are being prematurely intercepted. alot of people quit fw out of boredom.

I’m one of the all time top 10 pilots in Minmil on zkill. I’m all time top on multiple ships. I don’t need you to tell me this.

There being good activity in one faction at one time means nothing, there are 23 other hours in a day, 7 other days in a week and 5 other factions. It also doesn’t mean that there is any small scale activity anywhere, when there are like 30 people in a fleet in Minmil outside of peak USTZs it’s usually because they’re running a battlefield or something and all the f1 monkey ping warriors log off straight away after. I live in EUTZ but I almost always have to play outside my own timezone if I want to play with a good standing fleet. We usually have a decent population in USTZs but then a lot of the time simply have nothing to fight.

I’m actually not engaging with you any more, it seems like you’re just a forum warrior arguing back for the sake of it and don’t actually understand what you’re talking about, seriously.

Exactly, what might look like a healthy playerbase is often a churn of new or returning players trying it out for a while and quitting again.

You were the one who claimed MinMil is nonexistent during EU, I countered that it was. I avoid plexing during EUTZ to avoid PVP with either Amarr or Minmatar (mostly avoiding awoxers and fleets splitting LP) and plex during US night, again to avoid people.

Just as an interested bystander, I ask myself: This whole “FW” thingy feels nothing like a “big war between empires” but just some NPC-content grinding thats best done when knowing how to “avoid people”. Without any real and meaningful consequences at all.

Is it really that hard to design a cool concept of picking a side and then trying to assist your faction in short-, medium- and long-term goals that really shift the face of the border areas?

Hi, rare thing that I would reply to a topic because I’m part of the silent majority.

I agree with the OP, if faction warfare is supposed to be a new player/old player friendly zone then bubbles trash everything. Not going to speak on behalf of the many folks that have complained in militia chat but my own personal experience is that if there’s bubbles stopping me from getting into the action, then I will do my daily mission and log off. WTF is the point in jumping into a bubbled/camped gate to get smoked without reply.

What I’m going to say from now on is explosive, and two fold.

The major problem from a Minmatar perspective is that the Fraternity works both the Amarr and Angel cartel militia to their advantage due to the reward advantages. They work together and cause systems to be bubbled quicker than a group of Minmatar pilots can counter. It should never have been the case where alliances can set standings toward each other, major flaw in this game imo and causes FW to break down from what it is supposed to be. Once you form an alliance you should no longer be able to set standings to anyone, would make many aspects of the game enriched imo.

The second thing that I’m going to mention is how online games like this one tailor every single facet of the game to the out of work bum brigade. To many people here in the UK are claiming benefits and playing this game every god dam day, that I’m paying for. If people can play this game 8-12 hours per day then they can work in a call center and graft like the rest of us. I find this game to be very unfair when there’s events like Avalon that require me to be all over the place to end up claiming a skill or skin when the out of work brigade complete this content in a day. This game like many others should be quantified, I.E if you play the game 12 hours a day then what is required to complete an event should be multiplied by 12, your shields, amour and hull should be reduced by 12%.

Here’s a real world example here in the UK-Torrent Talon has a bad back, he 'can’t work due to his ‘bad back’. He can control 10 characters 12 hours a day with a ‘bad back’.

Should this person, and the thousands of others playing this game here in the UK like this have such an unfair advantage in every aspect of this game to people like the rest of us who pay taxes every week to pay for them ‘having fun’?

Yeah, didn’t think you’d all like that :frowning:

P.S nothing personal to you Talon, you welcome to hunt me for some revenge, outside of wife, work, kids, pet & garden good ******* luck.

I don’t see why not. If they’re incapacitated to the point where the only fun they can get is multiboxing 12 toons for 10 hours a day, I’ve no problem with paying a sliver of my wages so they can at least have that.

I had a few friends who cut their teeth on FW and then gave up after dying to a gate camp they could have escape without bubbles. 3 went to the solo mining/ hauling/mission loop , 1 of them went back to FPS (to be fair I told him MMOs weren’t for him and he wasn’t going to stay long probably) and 3 simmilair left to other games despite me not thinking the game was a bad match. Also I agree the suppression rewards are too puny.

But the fact is, anyone who screams “I’m leaving! This patch sucks” is not in fact leaving. They will be back. Maybe in 1 month, maybe in 3 years. So if you have any guys in LS who are loud enough to complain it’s worth quitting, don’t worry they’ll be back and if they were your buddies you can fly with them again. Maybe the next time they leave the game will be permanent, but not the one right after the qutting announcement.

The people who truly leave the game do so quietly. Perhaps it wasn’t even their intention to leave at the time but after taking a break they realized they found something fun compared to the game. Or perhaps they didn’t feel like announcing. It seems ordinary to his in-game friends, he announces a break. It was no different than any other 3-9 weeklong break, similar to the time he took a summer break to see the sun.. Perhaps even to his out-of-game internet friends it looks no different than a short break. But then a few weeks pass. And he doesn’t come back.
