A Likes Counter

I would like to suggest something for these forums and I am surprised that it isn’t a thing… Maybe I’m not surprised though. If it’s related to EVE Online we can be sure it’s missing something, if it even works.

So we’re supposed to give Likes if/when we like a post and I understand that those Likes are finite per 24h. Yet nothing ever tells a forum member how many Likes they have left.
There is a pop-up that says “You only have a few Likes left” but no number is ever given.

I and many tens of millions of forum members would love to know exactly how many likes we have so we can plan ahead and manage our Likes Operations, since we only have a couple dozen Likes but never know exactly how many.
I suggest a Like Counter wherever you like to put it.

Is there a ISD that can acknowledge this request or is it going to be ignored like everything else?
@ISD_Buldath ?

Thank you for reading.

Just ration them. :fedo:

This is the greatest idea I’ve ever read in my entire life!

Thanks, Ogun!
It’s definitely one of the greatest idea I have ever thought of in my entire life.

Earning and giving likes is part of how players get access to higher trust level tiers of these discourse forums.

Access to more likes would make it easier for fresh alt accounts (like yours) to get access to higher forum privileges like flagging capabilities. This could sow chaos when used en masse.

I do not think that is a good idea.

You can already see signs of such forum posting alt like-trading on the ‘like and get likes thread’ for example in this post where obvious forum alts farm likes from mainly other alts:

This explains why the recently joined OP and other alt characters noticed by @Mr_Epeen seem to b-line to the likes and get likes thread right after joining.

Yep, it looks like someone’s building a forum-alt army.

I had a strong suspicion that the 11 hour old OP too is part of it, and that was even before they asked to make it easier to build such a forum-alt army with easier likes.

In all seriousness, if any ISD sees this: be aware that someone is building forum trust levels on many alt characters for one reason or another. I doubt it’s good.

Hopefully @ISD_Kai will not mind if we bring this to her attention.

I support your request. It is a good idea.
In fact, it’s probably one of the greatest ideas I have read in a long time!

Oh hi King Louis, you sound surprisingly like that other alt I had underlined. Thorksomething?

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

:smirk: :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Thank you kindly, sir.

It seems to me that the OP is suggesting the introduction of a ‘likes’ counter, not a ‘likes’ multiplier.
The ‘likes’ rules will continue to apply to everyone equally.
Or have I missed something?

You did not miss a thing, sir.
In fact, this is probably one of the things you haven’t missed in your entire life.

as a forum admin at one time, there are, at least on old forums not sure about discourse, certain topics or subsections, you can mute from having the advantage of liking and commenting for more reps… its possible ccp may have done that with the LAGL thread… if so… then no amount of posting or liking will increase the chances of them moving up in ranks.

I’m sorry, sir, but I do not understand what you mean.
I think either my O.P isn’t clear enough or you are mistaken as to what my request is about.

I was merely replying to @Gerard_Amatin and others that commenting and liking in the “like and get likes thread” may not have any impact on likes to get reputation here.

I disagree with your OP however as well.
You should be frugal with the likes given out,
