A modest proposal to ease the transition of newbros out of highsec

As a counterpoint, highsec is already too large. If you’re worried Caldari space is too crowded, just go to Amarr or Minmatar space instead, which is largely empty.

A big barrier for newbros about lowsec is the concern they’ll gate right into a camp. My proposal solves this, by making the area surrounding the gate effectively highsec. They can pop in, take a look around, warp to their mission, d-scan, and go back to highsec. This teaches them ”lowsec isn’t so bad, I guess” and make them more likely to drop their strict reliance on highsec alone.

And yet, spending some times in rookie help, I hear about rookies being blown up at belt for the kernite AIR objective, not as much about gate camp. If gate camp entering low sec was the “issue”, why not propose that the entrance gate (and only that one) of a border low sec had such protection? But I can hear the Abhazon people screaming, and just like I don’t like having my content removed, I’m not going to advocate removing content for LS players. And besides, new bros would also not learn how to fly LS with that.

As for HS, I do fly all empire spaces, I’ve been pretty much out of Caldari space since the military campaign actually (I do stuff for all 4). And speaking of Amarr, this is one that has A LOT of 0.5, some just about outside Exordium (in Genesis), and all the way through the new so called “shortcut” to Amarr. So your new bros would also get killed in belt and data sites in 0.5 when exiting Exordium.

If your point is for new bros to learn to use d-scan, this is a convoluted proposal that disrupt way too much, and totally miss the point, since your don’t learn when you get killed and left to wonder, you learn when you take the lesson (yes, one is not the same). D-scan could be better introduced during the tutorial. Or a dedicated new low sec Epic Arc…
