A Open Letter to CCP and Players, changes need to be made for good

Probably the empire NPC corps bribe the pirate NPC corps to leave them alone.

There was some epic content back in the day fighting over R64’s, when passive moon go was removed a bunch of groups amalgamated and with fewer independent entities, there was way less opportunity for conflict.

Not to mention that without the space welfare of passive moons, those SRP bills just could not be paid when a group spent a majority of its time doing PvP.

That one change probably did more harm to the game than any change in empire space.

Yeah, the Triglavian fiasco in the starter systems was definitely a brain fart from whoever coded that crap…

As for the Diamond Rats, supposedly the ones you have positive standings with will help rep you if you’re being attacked by other players, not from NPC’s.

I know this because during the S.P.A.C.E. event, players had to do a mix of mining, combat and hacking. During the mining task, I went to systems in Derelik Region with low to no population count far away from major trade and mission hubs so I could easily complete those tasks. What I found was that a lot of systems were mostly empty of Asteroid Fields with only a few Asteroid Fields left active, and those all had NPC Mining Fleets in them.

Those were Sansha (Red), Blood Raider (Red FOB) and Thukker Mix (Blue) NPC Mining Fleets, all sitting there happily mining side by side. Yeah I’m sorry but that breaks immersion and goes against Eve Lore since those Factions are all mortal enemies.

Anyway, right after I landed on grid in my little Prospect Frigate, all the Pirate mining ships warped out and an attack response fleet warped in and started locking me.

Luckily I barely managed to warp out in time… So after that I realized I couldn’t mine the regular Asteroid Fields and the only way I could complete the Agency Mining tasks during the S.P.A.C.E. event was to mine Ore Anomalies.

What’s messed up is that I have very high positive standing with Thukker Tribe and they didn’t provide any help at all. That’s the reason for my statement about Blue Diamond Rats not helping you against Red Diamond Rats…

Basically that’s a result of CCP changing / limiting the NPC AI (originally programed to react on standings) to only react to player standings and not to other NPC standings.

You can’t help people who are unwilling or incapable of helping themselves. It’s a waste of effort, time and energy because they’re not going to make it anyway. Best you can do is recognise it early, go “ah well” to then focus your energy on other people where your efforts will have more effect.

I never understood why folks who are clearly not putting in any effort of themselves, or they’re just thick af, get all the attention and help poured and piled onto them.

CCP should remove the counter of how many players (characters, toons) are online because it’s mean nothing.
A lot of players don’t need to farm but there accounts are Omega. They only waiting for a fight when there are playing an other game.
Even Zkillboard is more accurate about how many peoples are logged. Even if there are missing some corporation who don’t put there killmails on it.

Cool stuff, if it does happen - at least that would be something that a certain group of gank-averse players could use to their benefit (on top of all the rest they should do). I’ve never read a post that confirms this, but one can only hope

And I agree with you. Opposing npc factions on the same grid should at least chase each other away, if not kill ships. That shouldn’t even be that hard to implement in the “AI”. It would certainly help with the immersion and the lore, and make the mutual standings between npc factions more meaningful than simply what we, players, are up against when we run missions and have to use your Plan to remedy things. The last joke that was played on me was a ship loss by a diamond gallente navy fleet that was gate camping, because of terrible standing (standing, not security) - so I had to use your “The Plan” to fix it (took me three days too, so now I have some bragging rights).

Perhaps getting the npc factions more involved in hisec would be an interesting angle to give some form of protection (against ganking, or other forms of pvp), and based on standings. There’s some potential there, as long as it isn’t too powerful and risk-free.
