If “you can do that”, is by suiciding a battleship through a Crit into a 35 from High sec, then yeah, you can do that for sure.
What mapping a path out in case you get stranded is so difficult?
Thems the breaks, it was always that way.
Again, thanks for this very detailed description of the issue.
However, in the end I can’t help but think that the request of the OP is basically,
“Please allow this unbalanced aspect in the wider game to continue, so that a smaller subset of the playe base can receive an unintended benefit.”
Don’t get me wrong, if this “unintended benefit” came without any cost to the wider game I’d be all for it. But CCP’s reason seems to be that the 500MN HIC is a problem outside of wormholes…while a benefit in wormholes. And there does appear to be at least a partial solution.
Mapping a path out in case you get stranded is easy, that can be done by the rolling ship itself.
The hard part is getting it out after you find out you are 35 jumps from High sec. Or something like that, because you are now stuck outside, no way to get home, and maybe that is part of the fun too.
But it does make finding content significantly harder for a relatively quiet part of space.
I don’t tend to side with CCP on many issues but you are all cheating and defending cheating by saying everyone is doing it.
I saw that argument destroy Ultima Online over speedhacking.
I think I need to make it clear, we are not asking for “dont nerf Hics”, we are more asking for “before you do it can you please give us a non broken alternative”.
Calling WH’ers “Collateral damage” only made it even more annoying, ofc.
“We know we are gonna totally shaft you in this upcoming change, but let us ■■■■ you with a spiked dildo first, no lube, and we dont guarantee that there will be anal reconstruction surgery provided”.
That seems a bit excessive. It seems to be, according to your own description, a subset of instances. Not exactly a “total shafting”.
No, you are conflating two issues here.
The exploit is a HIC with bubble up instantly accelerating to 20km/s and burning towards you. Everyone agrees this is broken and needs to be fixed.
However, in fixing it CCP killed a valid and often used wormhole rolling mechanic, and casually dismissed wormholers as “collateral damage”.
This has nothing to do with safety. If you want to rat in safety, leaving your hole crit is perfectly fine.
However, a pvp group may roll their static a dozen times on a single evening in order to find a fight. If the size of the group reduces by one every time the rolling goes wrong, you quickly won’t have much of a group left.
Wormholers have always been collateral damage.
Player NS entities win again…
Nullbears couldn’t tolerate even a very rare raiding party from a WH, at their own tremendous risk to be cut off from home, once in a blue moon.
I remember when rolling wormholes was figure your mass attempt to figure the wormholes estimated mass then calculate the nearest number of jumps it will take to finally enter with your microwarpdrive on.
Now its use a HIC and guaranteed to work everytime. Its not even the fact you cheated, its the fact you are so casual like this is the way it always was.
I guess you can always hope there is no long term employees of CCP anymore. Good luck with that one.
Nullsec carebears win again!
As someone who has been living in W-space for many years as well, allow me to give you some pointers:
- The usage of HICs to close critted holes has been known and widely used for at least 5 years.
2)There has been no cheating done by wormholers when it comes to closing wormholes. The mass-reduction is part of active warp disruption field generators is what we care about, not the increased agility you get with the 500MN MWD. The bug that CCP is talking about is when you combine the two.
- Even when you are using a HIC, you can still get stuck on the wrong side. It is not a 100% fool-proof method.
annoying? ANNOYING??? IT’S ■■■■■■■ INSULTING!
There is no other module that, when activated, reduces your mass. That property right now is exclusive to Warp Disruptor Field Generators and they can only be fitted on HICs.
I wouldn’t say we are “hiding”. We come in to K-space are rape you guys all the time, also, Null is way way safer then wormholes. I have been on both ends of the spectrum, I would recommend you doing that too.
Yes, I know. I’m saying, have you tried looking for something entirely different that solves the problem? The answer is quite clearly, “No, you have not looked for alternate solutions.”
So, if this exploit was never broken to begin with, what would you all be doing to supplement the cause??
Just think??
Because there is practically none.
Rolling HIC fills a VERY specific niche in WH space, and it is so much more important than you think.
