A significant update to Industry

No that’s not what I’m saying. Change is important and needs to happen frequently to keep the game fresh.

I think there is a distinction between changes which deliver content and changes which simply inconvenience players. For instance with the titan changes, CCP attempted to put the genie back in the bottle by making their build costs so high as for them to no longer be used. Now those of us that enjoyed supercap escalations rarely see such content such that the value for money in subbing dedicated titan accounts disappeared.

For me the better change would have been to accept that after 15 years of titans being the biggest ship, accept players have completed that grind and instead, to quote Dunk Dinkle who wrote a great blog about this, give players new mountains to climb in the form of new supercaps which effectively switch current titans to obsolescence whilst at the same time giving players a multi year content grind to enjoy.

I’d agree with your last point if, in the event of certain pursuits being diminished, a respec was allowed similar to what you see in other MMOs. The problem is “adapting” in Eve is either spending x months subscribing to retrain your char(s) or spending money to buy an inordinate number of extractors/injectors to respec those accounts. That’s a big ask of someone who just saw there playstyle nerfed/diminished which took years to reach. Rorqs are a good example there.
