A win for bots?

Did you know Equinox wasn’t intended as a mining nerf?

It was only the players who felt it like a nerf because of the bad way CCP implemented it, which is why they iterated (buffed) it later on.

Now if Equinox was not intended as mining nerf, how is it related to compression?

Let’s put it this way, if compression didn’t exist, and it took me twice as long to mine and haul the ore to market, I’m going to charge a minimum of twice as much for it, and in turn your ships and modules are going to end up costing you a minimum of twice as much…

The compression isn’t free. It needs a specialized ship like an Orca or Rorqual with a compression module which itself needs Heavy Water to function.

Not to mention the billions of ISK you have to spend up front on said ships or a citadel with compression service.

I stopped writing “practicaclly free” for your sake but apparently i needed to say it every time because you forgot. Thanks for the insight tho

You have to field and risk billions of ISK worth of ships or a citadel in order to be able to compress ore. Now, if individual mining barges and exhumers could compress on their own, then you might have a point.

Barges right click ore and hit compress and it gets 100 times instant compression for free, same thing in structures. You could have 50 or 100 barges doing it for free. A billion isk is a drop in the bucket for bots among others. I think one anom has at least 1B worth of ore.

Yet they still can’t do that without first having to field billions of ISK worth of ships in the form of a Porpoise, Orca, or Rorqual. Or, even more expensive, a citadel. So no, it’s not free. Not even close.

Then nullsec miners have nothing to be complaining about now, do they?

You would still field billions of ISK worth of ships to mine “proffesionally”. The compression is practically a free feature added on top.

Your posts are practically free of thought.

Edit: as you have added to your post, I’ll also respond that even if the mining boosters are already on grid to boost ships, it’s still a big additional risk to turn on that industrial core to enable compression.

Compression is most definitely not free.

Bro, literally anyone who mines anywhere has this same benefit. Use it or don’t use it. Move on.

You have successfully manufactured a ‘problem’…all without any thought let alone compression.

Speaking of bots, i’ve patrolled highsec recently, Caldari and Minmatar specifically, and I am impressed by the amount of bots there are now, it is way more than the past. I watched a guy for 3 hours to approach his covettors to a Porpoise and then approach an asteroid, he wasnt using mining lasers, all covettors where cargo full and the Porpoise was cargo full They just kept going from the rock to the Porpoise non stop, the bot got broken because all cargos were full

Homefronts? Full of bots, i picked one muliboxer farming homefronts 1j from Jita with 5 alt and multiboxing 5 ventures 1 from Hek. And they do this for almost 24 hours a day

I happened upon one at a moon mining OP. 40 Orcas, all named in sequence, using only mining drones, one per rock.

The bots i’m talking about they go from the Porpoise to the rock, then they mine and when the cargo is full they go back to the Porpoise. When their cargos are full the covettors simply stay in a loop flying from the Porpoise to the rock for hours, they never stop this loop

I am reporting them regularly since December or November, I can’t tell how many times I reported them, it is a lot

Perhaps the toon that was suppose to haul ore from Porpoise to station got killed and that broke the bots.

Honestly I think on grid compression was a mistake. They should have limited it to the Industrial Command Ship itself. This way people would need to either dock up at a refinery or they would have loose cans all over grid while someone in an Orca compresses things. This would give larger mining holds more meaning since that means the guy compressing stuff has less cans to deal with. Also we could see the rise of the can thief. I mean I don’t like them, but I think this might have actually been interesting for the game.

Wait… what people actually did this? Did the DSTs (to carry uncompressed ore) not exist at this time?

still does, get 60k m3 worth of rat loot…reprocess it and tell us what it would take to transport the minerals…as opposed to a DST moving the rat loot to be reprocess where the minerals are needed.

Compressed ore should not be gotten instantly and for free but CCP doesent know how to make miners or anyone else happy for that matter so they just implement power creep like that and call it a day. Sad
