About Bumping

The vast majority of bumping is to gank…if you are going to get ganked you were dumb, several times. You took on a significant amount of risk.

Read the post.

Only if they are unbalanced. Given that bumping has been in game for a very long time it is unlikely that it is unbalanced. That you don’t like does not make it unbalanced.

Was I intending to bump or close range to shoot? You can’t tell can you. Everyone else can see this but you. The computer cannot determine why I had a prop mod on and was closing the distance.

And if it hinges on clicking approach, I’ll just not use that button and close distance manually…

Or… time the prop mod to be off and uncycled before impact.

Yes you are. You will make the mistake twice, then you will learn to not play the idiot or get suspect.
Of course that’s why I said bumping should be deactivated unless security is orange.

If you approach someone with security off and bump him, you are responsible for bumping him. That does not need to make a degree in psychology.
Concord does not know what was your intent when you shot that station with a noobship. And does not care.

And clever players can use this to their advantage. Suppose you have your security off, you have a prop mod on and somebody scoots in front of you…whoops. You go suspect even though there was zero intent.

Or are in nul on a capital ship. Don’t want to be bump tackled… Turn safety to green. It won’t stop you from doing anything but you gain bump immunity.

Except that you could never trick a freighter to turn its nonexistent prop mod on.

It’s ALWAYS safe from bumping under this.

That too. Now tethering is super awesome!

You also need to trick him into approaching you.

Nope. If I move in front of him he is approaching me.

Since when does your ship switch from “aligning to a point in space” to “approaching X” by itself ?

I think you should open a ticket from CCP. I’m pretty sure this should not happen.

Lets try this: Ship A bumps Ship B in hi-sec. Both parties stand down until Concord arrives (10-60 minutes later) to conduct an investigation. Ship A is issued a fine for Flying While Distracted, and Ship B is issued a fine for not having the correct mining permit. Insurance charges both players an unreasonable amount of ISK for damages, and future insurance rates go up.

Soooo much more fun than the current arrangement.

No, you dont gain bump immunity.

I really don’t understand how you go from “deactivate bumping unless you go suspect” to “become bump immune”.

Basically if both ships are safety green they can’t hit each other. If one is safety orange he can actively use mechanism to bump, and becomes suspect if he does.

How about ship A hits ship B, while ship C is cloaked 5k out then ships D to Y warp in and blap ship B for auto piloting without a permit. Then ship Z shows up with a load of friends and blaps ships D to Y while ship A is immune to everything. You gotta love Eve.

Just shows that when in doubt…

Pick C.

Always pick C its the obvious choice.

Do you understand manual flying?

What are the long time cultural changes you foresee happening from this change?

Absolutely none

Because it won’t happen
