I was on my alt account today and doing a T0 abyssal tranquil. I wasn’t fly anything expensive and my ship loss is not the point. In the second room an Emberneedle drone was down to armor only and my ship just kept blasting away at the invulnerable drone. The timer ran out and I lost my ship.

Has anyone else encountered this glitch? My guns cut through the prior two drones like melted butter. But the third one with no shield, no armor, and hull at 100% just kept me there stuck in the second room. If this is all too common, I don’t plan to continue doing the filaments. I thought it was distance, I tried various movements. My guns and missiles did nothing to this; Emberneedle Tessella.
I felt like I was the well armed paladin being blocked by a naked grung with a pointy stick.
What do the damage logs look like? Did you miss all the time or did you do 0 damage hits or did you do damage but the NPCs health didn’t change? Or did it change but instantly regenerated to 100%?
Missing all the time. The first room was in and out, no issues. Then 2 out of 3 of these drone ships went down fast. The last one lost all shield and armor then kept 100% of its paper hull.

The Emberneedle NPC is a very small very fast light drone. And since you have neither Webs nor Tracking Computers (the one Tracking Enhancer isn’t very good), it’s not unusual that your medium guns can’t track it once it is in close orbit. Your Hobgoblin Drones should have hit it, or you should have fired your MWD and get at least 20km away, at least trying to drag it with you so you have a very good movement vector to shoot at it (very low transversal if you fly in one direction and the NPC tries to follow you).
Thank you, your advice is appreciated. I will make changes to my fit and try again. Meanwhile my ticket remains open (since Sat) and I have my doubts support will return the proper response. Their automated response was to clear my cache and make sure my drivers were up to date.
My husband is a tech ( has worked support before ) and says this game farms it out. I noticed my automated response was returned by some outfit called Zendesk. I looked it up and they are not part of CCP but a company they pay to filter support. When or if my issue is ever reviewed by a human is the next step in the chain. Then it remains a question of how many links in the chain before someone with the knowledge or wisdom can solve it.
Again thank you for this advice, I will now toss another 20 million ship into the void, it is not like I have anything else to spend it on. I will let you know how it works out.
As the page says, it tries to orbit at 5km, so another advice would be to keep it at 3000m range, so it has 0 orbital speed.
But anyhow when several have webs you are going to suffer unless you can kite the webs, so either have one defensive web, or the range and game awareness to not get webbed down, which can be difficult.
Drones can help indeed but they can also die more easily than you.
Well, you might want to take a look at your fitting anyway… I have simulated it in PyFa and I can’t imagine it doing well in the Abyss, maby except the lowest Tranquil or Calm sites.
You have basically no application against small/fast targets, the MWD is mostly useless since you can’t kite there anyway. The tank is not even worth talking about but the absolute worst part is the capacitor situation (unless you use some unknown capacitor mod in your fourth medslot that isn’t shown in your fitting above).
@stefnia_Freir I was thinking about, either changing the standard Hobgoblins to Hammerheads or looking for a method (other than skill) to make the drones more durable. Speaking of skill the character is an alpha, current training Drone Durabitily IV, but only at level 3 at present. Drone cargo space is limited, but the Rupture is not much of a drone boat in my opinion. I stuffed 6 hobs in there because; 1. they are cheap 2. I didn’t want to waste the space.
@Syzygium nothing in the 4th mid slot yet, but I was toying with the idea of placing the X5 Enduring Stasis Webifier in there or an F-12 Enduring tracking computer with a tracking script in there. Not sure which one would prove more beneficial.
The stats on this vessel plus the pilot skills are;
268.8 dps (263.6 dps) 488 HP
65.0 of that is drone dps, even if all my drones die I am still over 200 dps.
14,764 ehp, shield is 4,080 armor 2,160 and hull 1,800
Turret tracking reports 48.27 which I assume the lower score is better like golf?
The new Power Thrust is built, but I am thinking of testing in one of the school’s drone sites in HS so I can flee, if need be.

I did some drones near the school for practice. I then did 3 tranquils exotic, firestorm, and dark. Now the character got the AIR rewards, and it looks like I won’t be losing more ships from being gate camped. I place the webifier in the empty and left everything else the same. Using the MWD plus “keep range 15K” works or hitting it with the web at 10K or less slows it down for the guns to hit it.
Do you think I should tell support or leave them to sit and spin for a change of pace?
