Advice For Maelstrom Fit

I Am planning to do Lv4 SOE missions in the near future and I have a couple of questions about my maelstrom fit which I will pair with a logistics alt. Maelstrom #1 is more buffer-y with 106k Effective Hitpoints and 21k HP on the Shield. Maelstrom #2 has better resists, 88k Effective Hitpoints and 13k on the shields. Now many may think at first Maelstrom 1 Is better but it gets good here. I did say I will have a logistics alt on, so that accounted for, the logi will be able to rep the lower EHP higher resist fit faster because it has less actual HP on the shields but the better resists compensate for the loss of buffer. Anyways, you guys tell me what you think. Do your math and whatnot to figure out what has the best tank, edits to the already existing fits are acceptable.

My tanking skills will only get better over time, they currently suck so thatā€™s why my numbers may be low.

using a logistics alt Iā€™d go resists and tracking comps. Remote reps give a lot of shield, one or two should tank almost all missions with the double invlun. Might need to swap the tracking enhancer for a reactor control depending on your skills. And then a machariel will do it even better, can use the utility high to make a cap chain with the logi and that will allow for just plain silly fits.

I understand the Cap Chain idea, but is it similar to the Osprey where you can create energy out of nothing with a cap chain. Because I am using a scythe as my logi. (I believe that is what itā€™s called) What ever the T1 Minmatar logi is, but I do not think it is bonused to remote cap transfer.

yea the scythe doesnā€™t get the cap transfer bonus and is a bit more focused on being cap independent.

My one worry with using a scythe would be Iā€™m not sure how well it will tank. it has a pretty small sig and good AB speed so it should be able to speed tank and reduce incoming damage by a lot as long as it doesnā€™t get webbed. Might want to bring some shield transfer drones on the battleship to help out the logiā€™s tank.

I would add those drones into the Scytheā€™s drone bay because it is bonused for Shield Repping drones(you can rep yourself with drones right?). But yes I am quite worried about the scythe getting targeted and dying. Though it may not be an issue as I am doing my missions in Simela most likely against Blood Raider Cov who only use tracking disruptors and NOS/NEUT. I do believe though I will be able to stay around and extra 20 km from the battle with the range of the reppers and I donā€™t think that I would put repper drones in the bay of the maelstrom instead I would only put Warrior IIā€™s to deal with the only things that would be able to catch the Scythe.

Ah yes, and can you tell me what skills you have relating to the improvement of Power Grid because Iā€™ve looked through my skills (lacking the Power Grid Management V) did the math and your fit is too PG intensive even when I added in Power Grid Management V.

You are probably lacking the relevant levels of Advanced Weapons Upgrades each rank of which lowers weapon power grid needs by 2%.

also projectile rigging as the drawback of fitting the damage rig is increased PG on the guns.

Iā€™m not sure you can get the scytheā€™s drones to rep the scythe, Maybe if you assign them to the mael but that gets complicated, and may have concord implications, Iā€™ve never tried it.

I actually recently got both alts on so see exactly how much a Navitas armor repper would rep my Venture just to get an idea of how it worked. Did the experiment in Hi-Sec With no implications. I used cheap ships because of the possibility of what you stated above with Concord coming to crash the party.

with ordinary remote reps concord is very unlikely. If your logiā€™s safety is green the game will stop repping if the target goes criminal. And as long as your dps shipā€™s safety isnā€™t red it shouldnā€™t be able to do anything that would get it flagged.

years ago some players started remote repping rats so the player shooting them couldnā€™t kill them. CCP then added a criminal flag for repping rats. and I think it a more recent update they completely blocked remote reps on rats.

what Iā€™m not sure about is logistic drones, I would guess they canā€™t be activated on rats, there may be a quirk in their behavior although I would guess at this point probably not.

Fit a micro jump drive and you wonā€™t need logi or heck wonā€™t really need a tank and you could use 2 maelstroms instead

rats have the ā€œdeactivate remote assistanceā€ flag.

MJD is an omega only item Correct? If so I cannot use it. :confused:

I could use the structure version, but an item with a 60 second deploy time has no practical use inside of missions.

By the time I started using this hull my fitting skills were maxed out. That said these active tank fits served me well running L4 missions. Also these fits pre-date micro jump drives.

Add drones to taste. The damage specific hardeners on the artillery fit are, of course, tailored for the expected opposition. The afterburner would be running more or less all the time. The booster would come on when I got to half to three quarter shields left and then be turned off once they had been restored. With the rigs that meant I usually had enough cap to spare, excepting close encounters with Blood Raiders.
