AI and the effect on Economy/Society

I’ve looked into this a bit more and it definitely appears there is a worldwide problem with overproducing electricity, the whole world is missing the opportunity to capture Terra-watt hours of over-produced energy that actually gets wasted.

Further to this, developing a solid method of capturing this energy would actually improve the safety of electric producing power plants. From what I understand it is a dangerous situation when power is over produced. We definitely need more independent industrialists to fully understand this situation and develop methods to capture this electric and route it to those facing poverty.

That is a silly statement. Bakunin is elevated above “hack” simply because he accepted Marx’s critique of capitalism. Further, he was somewhat prescient when it came to his observations about statism and the likely outcome of the dictatorship of the proletariat.

I’d agree there are M-L solutions to the problems Bakunin identified, but you won’t find them in the theoretical contributions of Stalin.

It’s called co-operation. There’s a whole co-op movement and everything.

…sooner or later, thunderf00t had to deal with the topic, when he’s not plotting how to save the planet with baking soda…

LLM AI is a hammer. It can be used for some things and do them very well (specially language-related). But it can’t hammer itself into becoming a magic wand.

It appears major UK bank Barclays are laying off 5000 people as a direct result of incorporating AI, say what you like about AI but if this is what a major UK banking corporation is doing then AI is already a magic wand. AI has the power to make Barclays Bank fire over 1 tenth of a £billion worth of their human workforce this is very concerning.

I think it is more urgent than ever that the UK government must look at a type of AI tax on business and a fair trade policy which will stop them passing this AI tax back onto customers. It just feels as if the people on the executive level really aren’t seeing the bigger picture.

Obviously banking will be a primary target for AI as it is a rules based predictable industry where AI is actually an important tool in managing worldwide customers. Part of the problem is a lot of money and resources were used by people to study finance for years and years only to find there is no job for them in the industry.

‘spill and fill"

Major Bank here downunder are reassessing their workforce and restructuring by laying off then refilling positions with workers who can adapt to their strategies of future ai.

This is a recent news video from Michigan.

I know what would happen, if that was my neighborhood. The data centers’ fans would suffer catastrophic failure on a random but weekly basis. The fans cool down critical temps on GPU chips. I wonder how long before replacement of all those cooked chips, rack up enough loss to abandon the facility? Accidents do happen, just more often in my local vicinity.

Yeah, because these datacentres can’t afford state of the art surveillance and a handful of bribes to the local police department.

Well it is not like they will get very far with local judicial system.

My team and I went to Poland awhile back to extract a VIP from a country under constant attack by a northern country. My PMC paid for the flight and hotel in Zwadowka. We left all our ID behind and walked 20 km in across the boarder. Little did I know, that was the last walking I would do on my left leg that day. We succeeded in the extraction plus a local family too, but I lost my leg below the knee that day. I know local police and security would be a walk in the park compared to what I have accomplished.

Also they would have to know who to blame, if they came knocking at my door, I would tell them I saw a deer jump the fence the other day. Then tell them about the secret flying objects they are testing, I have seen them flying out of the facility. They would quickly write me off as an old kook.

As it stands, I live in a quiet bedroom community, there is very little crime here and not much industry at all. I like things quiet and boring. I hope they don’t build one of their noise machines in my neighborhood. I don’t think we would allow it to be commercially zoned. I wouldn’t put up with it for very long.

Well, don’t go too in-depth planning this on the forums. If it can at all be connected to your real location, I’m sure CCP will happily give the police all the information they have on you when they ask.

Just my 0.2 ISK

At least three times a week I have to explain to a client that ChatGPT gave them bad advice and that it is completely and utterly unprepared to assist a real living person with intense emotional conflict.

When it comes to mediation and conflict resolution, AI has been an active pain in the neck.

Other than that its just kind of annoying and pathetic. You see it here in our forums, another player suggestion essay that says nothing, proposes nothing, and ends up being nothing. Either that or it is exceptionally lame artwork.

I see a use for AI. Screening breast cancer patients? Awesome! As a daily use social tool? Completely and utterly worthless.

I fully believe that AI is a pump and dump investment scheme. That is a bubble with phenomenal money being poured into a market that just does not have an equal or greater value.

It’s safer to use the data publicly available to locate the electric high tension transformer to which the data center is connected… high tension transformers have some funny looking fins on the sides, those are oil radiators and if anything punctures them anywhere they start leaking and eventually the transformer will shut down to prevent damage, cutting down power until the transformer is repaired or, if there’s more than one transformer damaged, and there’s a serious outage (with lots of affected customers), a mobile transformer (of which there are very few) is transported on site while repairs take place.

More details on a freak attack that back in 2023 took down a specific subsection of the grid in NC with some 50,000 customers, for reasons unknown:

Don’t worry, it was a legit operation. The VIP paid my PMC for protection. The reason we left IDs in the hotel back in Poland was to avoid our family members and the government from getting dumb ransom demands from another country. The family got a freebie on the way out, I cannot stand leaving kids behind in that environment. You or anyone else are more than welcome to send info to whomever they want.

Sounds like basic vandalism by morons with nothing better to do, I suspect it was much more than vandalism. It is very easy to grab some road kill and toss it into one of those. Squirrels and raccoons have naturally been known to make an awful mess in wrong place. They didn’t need to use a gun. If I were working the investigation, I would check the areas in the blackout for large cash heists, or multiple breaking and enterings. The persons of intrest could have done this to avoid alarm and security systems.
