hey
i am a new player in EVE, well, i knew this game for a long time however didn’t got a chance to play before. recently i am picking it up again
I notice i need to rely heavily on 3rd party tool to know the intel such as where the kill happens, what kind of WH is it, is the site safe to hack, and plan my jumps…
i wonder if we can truely have an AI assistant in-game, which we can converse to find out these answers, the user experience is more coherent and more effectively.. and it feels more sci-fi than what it is today.
also this smart assist can put on alert mode when i am busy with some task such as hacking, and be vigilant on changes in the environment… it can give advice on how to tackle a PVE site…so much more..
i dont think it should do everything in game and we just sit back.. but still, it would be cool to have such AI available…
AI would make the user experience ‘more coherent’?
You could just as well ask a Magic 8 Ball.
By the way, if you want advice on how to tackle PvE sites I found it really useful to join a group of players who talk about such things! You’re new; join a group!
Look at the bright side at least the majority of 3rd party tools and resources tend to be much better than the CCP equivalent, if any such even exists, and consequently it is likely whatever solution CCP would come up with would be subpar compared to the 3rd party equivalents, to say the least, or potentially much worse (just a single example being the in-game maps vs dotlan).
yes, i agree.. i am. getting myself familiar with various tool.. as a new player, i feel i need user manual to some extend to use these tool…if i can ask in-game questions, such as, anyone got killed in this system past hour, and it does the search for me on zkillboard and give me an answer, that would be cool
However for now try not to rely on ChatGPT much because people did some tests like asking it for fitting advice or asking questions regarding specific game mechanics and it provided not just unuseful but outright garbage results.
So even if you plan to use such limit it to simple things and to be honest even then best to check if the provided answer is actually valid because there is a good chance it is not.
In general you can check my guide, it could be especially useful for new players but might be useful for veterans as well:
ok, so if CCP is add this in-game AI, it should trained on eve-related stuff, or it calls ESI directly, so it should be much reliable than the off the shelf such as chatgpt, which makes less mistakes…eventually it is for the better in game experience…i dont know how hard it could be to have one, but a real personal in-game AI can do many, many things imo
I feel sorry for the upcoming generations who apparently can’t think for themselves, write for themselves, read for themselves, or do anything without consulting artificial idiocy (AI) first and even then they can’t make an independent decision on their own.
@Erkkomon_Akesu_Uisen It isn’t a bad idea and certainly not a horrible one. An A.I to assist with the game would permit players to save time and maybe save some isk and a few ships in the process.
I can understand those who look down on A.I but there also were people who looked down on every technological breakthrough including a computer in every home.
Some people don’t want A.I to exist but they’re happy to use computer spreadsheets and online tools to measure things in game like profit per hour and mining amounts per hour among other things.
Not everyone uses A.I as a crutch. Not everyone who uses A.I is a dumb millennial.
