Sam Altman FURIOUS As $31B UK AI Data Center COLLAPSES
It seems Altman has recognised electricity in the UK costs 4 times more than it does in the states which makes their plans for UK datacenters impossible.
We will see the models being more energy efficient and enhanced by new technologies and new ideas. Eventually you will be able to run locally good A.I. that needs a huge server farm now.
Look at what computers could do 20 years ago, and what they can do now.
Hmm Iām not so sure, currently 1 GPU/APU uses 700watts to 1500 watts, they canāt make components smaller than 1nm we are at that limit now. There is a physics barrier that modern knowledge canāt cross as reality will never adapt to our needs.
This Sam Altman has fleeced investors out of billions with unrealistic and fantastic claims while you have companies like Google who have also promoted investment into these wild AI claims but at the same time has strong advertising platforms which can fund their AI goal.
Ultimately a lot of the AI market isnāt really there, Google for example can afford to offer some AI tools at no extra cost to the user due to their business model already generating record levels of profit, so any other company offering similar AI tools has to immediately match what Google offers and find a way to finance it which would be difficult.
The problem now is that Tech/Hardware investment will become a big NO! the current AI investors who invested billions in data centers that may never get completed might not get their money back any time soon so investors will be much more careful about tech investments and would adopt a slow and careful approach.
One key thing to remember here is that big investment firms have used lots of other peopleās money for lending to the current AI effort so their reputation will also be at stake here and rightly so as they didnāt seem to check the validity of the AI investment and the physics related limits that have always been there.
Who ever is the tech advisor for these big investment firms isnāt doing a very good job and will most likely lose it along with lots of investors billions.
There are 1000s of boxes of unused GPUās/APUās that were paid for which will be obselete by the time they are plugged in and used, all the massive buildingās that were half built, all of the building firms that will be bankrupted, this is terrible management.
