Herons can get decent DPS for a t1 frigate actually, making it fit for combat is viable and you have the possibility of killing hostile asteros, which are considerably more expensive.
I’m a newbro too and have been ganked before in w-space doing the exact same thing, but I fail to see the problem here. Neither of you lost their ship and the relic site will respawn eventually, so no big loss here, right? Just an interesting story to tell.
This story needs hull tanking.
