Last week we became aware of information being posted publicly relating to the upcoming Revenant expansion that was only known to CCP developers or CSM members. Internal Affairs department was made aware of the leak and began their investigation.
During the investigation CSM 18 member Alcoholic Satan came forward voluntarily and admitted to being the source of the leak. We believe that the leaking of this information was a genuine mistake, in that he believed the information was already public, and that there was no malicious intent from Alcoholic Satan. No immediate in-game advantage, economical or otherwise, would have been able to be gained from the information leaked.
With that being said, we have to uphold the Non-Disclosure Agreements that each CSM member signs. As such, Alcoholic Satan has been removed from CSM 18, his candidacy for CSM 19 is being removed and all his accounts will be banned for 60 days. His eligibility to run in future CSM elections will be at the discretion of CCP.
Alcoholic Satan was informed about this decision yesterday and as a token of recognition for the hard work he has put into the CSM we wanted to give him the opportunity to make a statement himself before we made the information public.
Voting for CSM 19 will begin on Thursday 17 October.
I think it would have been nicer if AS had personally withdrawn from his CSM 19 campaign before dobbing himself in for being a leaker, instead of having his campaign terminated by CCP when they proved less than sympathetic about his accidental leakage, it would have shown some humility.
Still, perhaps we have the the right result in the end, and no doubt Mr Satan will have plenty of opportunity to mull over his manifold NDA related crimes during his 60 day ban and during the next year spent without his much needed block sponsored holiday in Iceland.
I’d propose then a referendum, to take place at CSM 20 hustings time, on his being able to run for CSM once more. Then we can decide if he worked hard enough to return to the bosoms of all eve players a fully reformed demonic personage who might merit another crack at CSM.
Nda is clear. And he broke it. Its up to ccp if they allow him to run again, and it looks better for him to speak up that he made the mistake even though it wasnt gamebreaking what he revealed
Important Dev posts are being found by luck or Reddit these days, because we’re coming up on a year since first alert about the Dev Posts static link disappearing from the forum header. CCPls Fix
You aren’t running the CIA over there, it’s a video game. A genuine mistake over some mundane game info shouldn’t cost someone representing a massive amount of the player base their candidacy. If it was critical information that someone could actually make a gain from, or if it wasn’t the persons first time breaking the NDA then I can see this being an appropriate response.
The person comes forwards admitting it was a genuine mistake; you admit the information isn’t important, but you still decide to throw the book at them. Where is the logic?
If they did what you suggest then they would admit the whole NDA is nothing to be cautious of and a myth. They had to do what they did, out of principle. No exceptions.
By your logic if they took it easy, more ppl who accidentally share info that they shouldnt have, would do so with little consequence. You signed an agreement to not disclose that information you should be held accountable irregardless the kind of info shared
No your wrong. Using what I said, you would make a distinction between intentional leaks and the quality of the leak. If you dropped intel on the biggest secret eve has to unlocking the next expansion, you get booted. If you make a mistake and it’s not important info, there is room for leniency but not guaranteed.
