I explo 50% of my gaming time (25% spin ship 25% other) and I intensely dislike this new feature. If it would exclusively pinpoint some specific, new anomaly, but not the existing signals, I would not mind it so much.
Ask CCP.
The opposite. It is retardness and badly thought feature. To the point that we don’t need probes and launchers anymore. They will be redundant as unnecessary and tedious mechanism. “We all know sigs are there, why bother with scanning when we can jump into pvp right away?” Dumbing down MMO is an arrow in the knee. If I want simple game I would be playing indy games on steam.
I am in with the camp that finds it unlikely that having the location of all signatures shown to veterans and new players will result in an overall advantage for the new player who would only be on equal footing in this sole regard, and otherwise at a disadvantage.
Perhaps if you like hunting new players in low or null, though, you will know which systems to camp to blap those hopeful explorers. I mean, not like you don’t know where they’re going.
That’s what I keep coming back to the more I think about this. I hope I’m wrong, so very wrong and it’s a win for everyone, just at the moment I can’t really see this being anything other than a carrot and stick type conflict driver to generate content, but without the carrot.
Is this true?
@CCP_Wonderboy So, where is your dev blog? It’s only 9 days till release and there is still no sign at all of you reconsidering or even a proper introduction of the new Agency.
There is not even a feedback thread on the Test Server forum and bug reports about missing features from the old Agency, namely that I want to open a specific section of the agency all the time and do not want to click on bookmarks, which are placed way out of the way for them to be useful, are being closed because “that’s not what bug hunters do”.
Do you know how much time and effort it takes to put lipstick on a pig?..
exploration already got dumbed down when they made the scanning changes but exploration will never be dumbed down enough because it will always require players to undock
basically any activity which requires player to undock will always be too much effort
Why bother? If it is all about player interactions they should remove it. Why use the mechanism when it increase the time for pvp? If we reducing the effort we reducing the depth. All I see, CCP want introduce short pve sessions because players don’t know what to do in their sandbox, and exploration is time consuming activity. For all that claims: “you don’t need to use the agency”, nope, after it hits it will be mandatory mechanism.
You’re doing a great job of dodging the question. You claimed that we don’t need probe launchers anymore to scan down signatures due to the change in the Agency. Is this true?
Probes mechanism will be unchanged, I just made an assumption that it would be redundant if we already will have sites on the agency. I can already tell you what will be in incoming blog: “we want more player vs player interactions; it is good for new players; it will reduce time per session but increase interaction with sandbox”. If CSM know about it they should be beheaded. This change will ruin gameplay for many players in EvE.
That is what Jester was writing in his thread. They removing gameplay options as this change is no near “you have to adapt”. It’s use the agency or don’t play as explorer if you don’t like it. After six years spend here I’m fu***** tired of this aproach. There was nothing wrong with current system, but there is fresh blood at the top of the CCP food chain that want to show up the redhead they can make money and have ideas for it. Rome didn’t fall because of “barbarians” invasions, it was few step proces. It will be the same with EvE. As Jester wrote people in charge have little to none knowledge about EvE. They want to earn money even if the outcome product is ■■■■.
Where in the game is it forcing you to use the Agency? You realize that you’re still fully capable of “exploring” without using the Agency, right?
You don’t need to use it. So why are whining about using it when you don’t need to?
I suspect you’re not thinking this through - if the Agency gives out information about which systems have signatures, people who use it will know immediately where to go to scan them down - leaving those who wish to explore systems along traditional lines with nothing worthwhile left to find.
But there is nothing in the game that is FORCING you to use the Agency, which is the complaint the guy was whining about.
So as far as I can see it. This change makes it easier for you to (1) know where the sites are and (2) get ambushes set up since you know where explorers will be likely to go.
This seems like, again, a very good change because there is less wasted time. All of the outrage seems to be outrage for outrage’s sake. I can understand this because the EVE Community just loves to circlejerk itself over the tiniest of changes, but come on.
You are forced to use it if you want to find worthwhile sigs any more.
It makes it easier for everyone else to know where the sites are, without having to go to the bother of looking for them…
It’s only wasted time for those who don’t enjoy exploring - for some of us exploration is (was) one of the major joys of the game.
The outrage is because those of us who enjoy the current model have not been given any convincing reasons why it has to change.
No you’re not. Lol.
If the Agency gives useful information that players who ignore the Agency don’t get, you’re pretty much forced to use the Agency if you want to explore in the most effective way.
It’s like saying you’re not forced to use drones in a Gila ; if you’re at a severe disadvantage by not playing a certain way, the game is ‘forcing’ you to play that way.
True sandbox give me more than one option to solve the problem. What we will have with agency sigs are throw away ceptors everywhere. All this because players like you thinks they waste the time searching for sigs? God forbid you’ll have to make an effort to earn something…everything have to be put on plate? And that point you mentioned about catching up players already tell everything about you, as if using non d-scanable recons wasn’t easy enough. It’s actually good that CCP forcing this change, they will learn the hard way, Jester’s predictions are true. There is no leader there that can pull anything from EvE anymore. When they change fundamental mechanism like this they won’t bring new blood but lose vets.
No you’re not being forced to.
You are actively choosing to play the game suboptimally and then throwing a whiny fit when the game tries to provide you quality of life changes for the better.
You’re talking about a different thing if you’re going to run away this far from the original argument and start talking high level abstract concepts.
This is a good change, you guys are just crying for the sake of being mad at something, lol. When will this generation of snowflakes learn to realize that not all change is bad?
