Allow us to bind lock to Ctrl + CLICK

how do you know what he did and what he didn’t? Looking at the KB of someone is one of the obvious first steps. I’m quite sure he did, prior levelling his diffuse accusation.

“you sitting on a gate, you’re DOING IT WRONG!!” kind of bs.

He didn’t say you are doing it WRONG. He did explain that it is an absolute niche-case that needs very special circumstances to occur in the game.

I am rather surprised that there are still people willing to help you.

as long as these ppl aren’t working for FC, they can’t help anyway, other than shitting up this thread with useless advices, which only exists because there is no other channel for feature requests.

So rather they need to allow the left mouse click to be a bindable action where as currently it is not

I can be on board for that

he implied it, why bother posting such a disruptive, worthless comment otherwise??

Even if having something selected on overview and using the ctrl key for anything other than lock was such a niche situation, so what?? At least 50% of this forum are even more niche. Hell, the GAME ITSELF IS NICHE!

Namdor bothered posted it as a response to your invitation:

And he reported his findings back at us.

For me Namdor’s post was helpful and explained why I didn’t understand your issue at first.

You, however, interpreted the response as an attack and acted hostile in response.

Not for the first time. You’ve been unwilling to listen to questions or answer them, have been unwilling to listen to feedback and shout at everyone to leave your thread which you posted on a public forum where people share and discuss ideas like these.

Regardless of whether it’s a good idea or not, your way of presenting an idea makes it really hard to understand, improve or support the idea. You’re shooting yourself in the foot.

Had you said:

Locking is bound to Ctrl + click, but Ctrl itself also is enough to lock targets if the overview is the active window and an object is selected.

This is very annoying when I press Ctrl for a different action: … , when I still have the overview active.

Please allow us to turn off or rebind the second feature.

Then it would’ve been clear from the start what the issue is, why it is a problem and what it is you ask for. Or, if not everything was clear from the start an open attitude to answer questions and discuss with people who bring up new info could have improved your suggestion to this point.

I would support such a suggestion.

how in the world did you come to conclusion that my comment was somehow an invitation for namdor for anything, given all the previous comments? “just try it” was actually a direct reply to Uriels post right above. If you needed Namdors post to understand it then I can’t help you. My original 1st post described the issue crisp and clear, if you bothered to read it.

Yes, and Uriel said he wasn’t planning to log in to try it, and would wait for someone else to try it.

The next post then is Namdor, who did try it as you asked, and told Uriel and the rest of us the results.

How was it not an invitation?

Or are you saying that by responding to Uriel with the “just try it” you were specifically asking Uriel and nobody else to try it, and did not want anyone else but Uriel to try it?

I have to ask at this point, which part of my orig. post you’ve had difficulty to understand? the “press and release”, or the “selected in ov”?

I had no idea there was a different behaviour for the overview, so all I saw was a thread going like:

1: Please make grass green!
2: But grass is grean?
1: The request is described in the headline
3: it is working as intended, grass is green
4: I do not understand the request, grass already is green
5: Grass has been green for a long time
1: Are you daft? That is why I propose to make grass green. Irrelevant and off topic
5: You imply grass hasn’t always been green?
1: get tf outta here.
4: I think there is a misunderstanding, I don’t see how grass is not green.
1: completely irrelevant to this topic

etc.

I, and I think many others too, were unaware of a distinction of how Ctrl works when you’re pressing Ctrl while you have the overview as active window and have a selected target which you do not wish to lock, as this situation very rarely happens to me. The only time I press Ctrl and interact with the overview is to click the target I wish to lock, which works as expected.

To go back to the first analogy, it could have helped to explain you were talking about a different sort of non-green grass when you saw everyone ask questions like they did.

Plot twist: OP is colorblind. :eyes:

  :ccpguard:

I see it come up pretty often, but usually the other way around: Someone will complain that the warp-to, dock, etc hotkeys don’t work, and it’s almost always because they’re tapping them after selecting something by clicking in space.

so basically we have this long discussion here because you can’t read. I’ve laid it out in my original post how it works and why I want it changed.

Well, no.

The point I’m trying to make is that your attitide of ‘everyone else is wrong and I’ll be nasty to them about it’ is not helping you in your attempts to communicate your idea.

I care little if you continue doing that, but it may save you the same trouble if you change something.

get tf outta here. nowhere in this thread I told anyone he’s being wrong. I’d just like to bind lock to Ctrl + CLICK, as I’ve stated from the beginning on, to avoid the issue of unintended locks.

Then how am I to interpret this?

to f*ck off and stop shitting up a thread you can’t contribute anything to.

I had hoped to contribute more clarity by asking questions you refused to answer about the issue.

Luckily others are more cooperative which made the issue and request clearer.

I also contrubuted feedback so hopefully future communication goes smoother.

I always assumed it was ctrl and mouse click, but where its just ctrl it makes sense. But where they were having issues using ctrl outside of eve apparently, thats why im assuming namdor and myself suggested other buttons.

Some games lets you select mouse as bindable. It wouldn’t select any button on my mouse to combine with ctrl.

And after looking it up, from a UI standpoint theres a reason why you cant do what OP wants

@Lea_Ramiro this is a solution google ai gave me
Remap Your Mouse Hardware (The True Ctrl+Click Fix)
If you are determined to use a combination that behaves exactly like a standalone shortcut bind without the passive Ctrl issue, you can use your mouse’s configuration software (like Logitech G HUB or Razer Synapse):
• Bind one of your side mouse buttons (like Mouse 4 or Mouse 5) to execute a keyboard key you don’t use (for example, the [ bracket key).
• Go into EVE Online’s shortcut settings and bind Lock Target to that same key ([).
