You are not gonna get far with a 1 minute cap on that orthrus and a single nos can cap out a daredevil, rail devil on the other hand…
Limitations are severe and they become more apparent in a pvp engagement than in any other aspect of gameplay.
Players who decide, for what ever reason, to stop paying for a sub will quit the game when they realize the severity of the limitations.
To be honest i never saw the thread where they discussed allowing gilas to alphas, i would love to read the reason for that proposal, i guess isk printing?
In any case you are comparing a gila to a t2 1 mn afterburner
By design. This is the whole point of free to play. And the orthrus isn’t as bad as you describe. Omegas gone alpha can bling fit.
But alphas are pvp’ing in faction frigs and cruisers. The real challenge is doing it on an alpha from scratch.

Mostly simple greed. The same as the threads asking for access to battlecruisers and battleships.
I wanted cross training because it was less complicated than forcing people to choose a race and then locking them out of certain tools Minmatar could not use logistic drones despite having a cruiser bonused for them and alphas were locked to racial e-war except ecm which everyone got. It also made it easier to make fits for alphas if they all had the same access to the same skills.
But we should have locked them out of pirate factions some how,
You want access to 100mn mwd II. But even so, so what?
It’s not like t2 guns that come with extra utility. You just want MORE. More stuff for free. To be more competitive. More reasons not to sub.
To which my vote is no. There is no way that what you’re asking for can lead to more profits for ccp. The whole alpha thing was a mistake and i can’t imagine how improving alphas helps lessen that mistake.
Fit a faction or deadspace prop mod instead of t2.
Any pvper with a grain of salt in his head will tell you that you shouldnt bling unless you have perfect skills, because blinging an alpha comet gets you an insane boost of 100 m/s more.
Lowering the support skills was a right decision, it forces them to trade ether dps or tank to gain cap or range or what ever, it forces them to think and adapt. The problem with base speed is that its an important factor and should be made available to all, max speed is still limited and to achieve that they still need to trade something.
No i want tech 2 1MN afterburner, that is frig and dessie prop mod, cruiser and bs prop should be locked behind requirements wich also need revisiting.
Im not sure if it will bring profits for ccp but i am sure it will breed more competent players and more good fights. Good fights is better for the games survival than skins.
Any pvper will tell you 100m/s is plenty. And to bling or not is individual perspective.
The skills you ask for give access to all t2 prop mods.
Really? You’re doing this for the ‘gud fights’. How selfless of you. Lol.
No one is complaining that alphas are too easy to kill except alphas. How many people can even tell that the player they’ve shot down is an alpha or not?
Its not when you are missing 10% prop mod bonus and 5% base speed. You just end up with a 100 mil frig that is outperfomed by a 2 mil atron. Unfortunately its not viable.
That is because L4 Afterburner unlocks every ab in the game, same with L5 Hull Upgrades wich unlocks every plate. I said in the first post that limits can be achived through rebalance of requirements. Requirements in the curent state are a mess and ccp needs to revisit this sooner or later.
Im sure that im not the first omega that said alphas are an easy kill. You can easily check zkill for fits and that will tell you if the character is alpha or omega.
This character will become omega when i need him to light a cyno, in the meantime he will remain alpha solo pvper because solo pvp is hard and alpha solo pvp is harder.
Simple solution. Use a meta or faction prop mod. Problem solved. Most meta mods are nearly as good as t2, many of them with better fitting or cap usage in fact most PvP fits that I’ve seen will use enduring or compact for just that reason. And with limited navigation skills an enduring will probably help more than the raw speed from t2.
Or go with faction mods, a little bit pricier sure but you get all the performance or better as t2. With better fitting.
T2 is not the be all end all of options. If you can’t win with what you already have, I guarantee that getting access to 1 more mod isn’t going to make much of a difference.
The open source business model actually works really, really well. People get the software for free, but pay for the support.
This is not like “free 2 play” where the user is the product, because “free 2 play” software is made specifically for addicts who give their money away anyway. “free 2 play” is just “the first fix is free”.
With open source software, though, those who can help themselves will help themselves by changing the code, or figuring out the problem themselves and sharing the solution, thus contributing to the whole by “giving back”. That’s a form of payment, because the product itself improves that way.
