Alpha restrictions. It's time to let go, CCP

Even PlanetSide 2 isn’t all free.
People like him want everything free but try to get something free from them and they go ballistic.

I just want to point out that one could simply buy PLEX for 20 bucks and have a lot more ISK instantly instead of paying a sub to do PI where you would do several hundred clicks and sustain a whole farming & hauling chain before making comparable profits.

If Alphas could use all ships, all modules and had no SP limit, why in hell should anyone with a sane mind pay for Omega? -_-

I thought that was a free game :joy: There are a lot of free games on Steam. Some of them are ok.

so you want to play for free with every ship and skill you can find ?
then i have another restriction for you :

Alpha player have only 50% ( 25% if they fly capitals or supercapitals ) of their dps and tank abliity´s ( active and passive tank ) of former restrictet ships !

Sure. You forgot that EVE is a paid service and not a charity.

Your proposal is next to unlimited, since the restrictions would apply to only a small portion of the playerbase (PI and market players) and activities.

Games which are effectively “free to play” (as opposed to “free to try out”) have many other ways of monetizing their game. They sell progress upgrades, gear, cosmetics you can actually see, ships/mounts, weapons etc. EVE doesn’t have any of that, they’re bread and butter is sub sales and Plex.

Your proposal would cut sub sales in half and make a significant shift in the Plex market as Alpha players take up things like WHing and Carrier ratting.

Complain about the price, sure. Ask for better multi-month or long-term player discounts. Ask for better game content or better design, great.

But don’t bother asking people to work for free.

Alpha Class ships are ships that are primarily used by Alpha Clones, because the last time I checked, most Omega’s, if not all, do not fly Alpha Class ships but will fly Navy, TII and TIII ships along with Strategic Cruisers.

So yes, Tier I ships are in fact Alpha Clone Class ships.

No, Omega players do not finance Alpha account play, that is a lie, truly the second biggest lie in Eve Online that sits right underneath anything a Ganker has to say. Only a player who cannot use the bonuses of a Tier II ship would fly a Tier I ship.

What truly supports the Alpha account FTP is when an Alpha purchases Skill Injectors.

omega players finance CCP and they decide to improve the old “2 week test account” to an unlimited free to play account with restrictions ! so … omega player pay for all alpha players !

if they wouldnt pay then CCP would close the server or will change the game into a pay to win game to collect some ISK !

Deal.

Or who wont pay for t2.
PvP is expensive, you know.

But anyway…

Alpha is a trial, which you can let go on for as long as you like. I think that is already very generous. There is no popup after 2 or 4 weeks telling you “In order to keep playing, please buy game time” like WOW and such do. I think the current model is very sound, given that it has been refined over 20 years now.
And once you go back to Omega you can instantly fly all your stuff again.

If one wants to make isk as alpha, go gas huffing in a Venture.
That’s fast money, once you get over the 30 mill skill book cost.
Ofc you need to go into jspace for that, but some effort is always required.

You do realise alphas can fly faction/navy ships right? So gtfo with this alpha class bullship

I anything then contract number restriction should go as that is most meaningless and most annoying of them all. Anytime my omega drops to alpha it makes contracting PLEX to my other accounts very annoying.

Yet still doable. All you need is to have a corp, put it into corp office or have it in corp delivery hangar (ie. contract it to yourself beforehand and accept as corp) and then you can contract it, in fact you can have 10 contracts this way as alpha. Another obvious solution is to transfer that item via corp office or even safespot in space to another toon or the toon you want to contract it to it. Or you can just make reverse contract from the toon you want to give it, ie. request item for 0 isk.

It is just annoying. Don’t see any reason why can’t alpha do 10 contracts at the same time, or at least 5. It is not like you could make any decent profit hauling courier contracts as alpha. It doesn’t limit scammers either, they are making throwaway alpha alts every other day and 1 contract is all they need anyway. Anytime I remember GMs claiming that they cannot rename toons because “actions has consequences” I laugh when I see another new spam/scam alt in local.

My Badger would beg to differ.

maybe you could watch your omega time and act before your account drops to alpha ? its not CCP´s fault youre to lazy to watch your stuff !

or maybe contract it ? or have already 500 plex on each account ready ? or …

because they are alphas and play for free ? you want to test the game then you dont care … if you play as alpha forever then why you should be able to have more then 1 ? only because its annoying ? then PAY for tthe game you want to play !

Right. Instead of playing a FREE game, these people download paid games then beach and moan it should be free.
Or they don’t want to buy a game but come to a subscription-paid game and start moaning about it’s too expensive, as if playing EvE was required by law.
All those losers are the same. Glad to pay for a bottle of Vodka but someone’s work means nothing to them and it all should be free. Makes me puke

Yes, it’s time to let go ! No more alpha clones , bring back the 14 days trial model.
