Oh, I guess that could work. I mean if people take a long break it is not unreasonable to expect them to dock up or get back to safety first or something. Though not sure if CCP would really want that but technically could work I guess.
Though would be interesting what Titan owners would say about it.
I dunno what Alphas are complaining about. My Alpha Gnosis, battlecruiser, is almost entirely T2 fittings ( below ) and can do over 700 DPS. My Omega version of the same ship does 834 DPS…which is not hugely more.
OK so there’s a lot Alphas can’t do or fly…but this is pretty damned good for a freebie…
Alphas can also fly Gilas for example, a very powerful and versatile ship if properly trained (though probably only worth it if you have the expanded Alpha skillset).
Since when do we ever give out free ships otherwise? Doesn’t this kind of run contrary to the player-driven industry/market? I mean, if we were giving out free Navy Ravens every year imagine the uproar…
It has its drawbacks already. No role bonuses per race level, just a generic overall increase. This means you can get more DPS out of a Navy Augoror with 3 Heavy Pulse Lasers ( as Amarr cruisers have a 25% increase in damage per Amarr Cruiser level ) than you can out of a Gnosis with 5 Heavy Pulse Lasers. That sort of comparison exists across the board…Gnosis is a Jack of all trades, but a master of none.
It is ‘better’ than the Gnosis…but not as flexible at generic tasks. The Prophecy is specifically a laser ship…whereas I have 6 different variants of Gnosis, all with different fittings and weapon types.
Generally for suspect hunting I’ve replaced the Gnosis with a Navy Augoror. Puny little ship, with actually more DPS and tank.
That’s a Navy Proph that costs almost 4 times as much, and even then it’s only slightly better at some things but worse at others. If a zero skill ship is preferred (in many cases) over a faction equivalent that costs WAY more that probably means it needs nerfing, or in this case it needs to stop being seeded.
No…my laser Gnosis is 100m ISK…the Prophecy Navy Issue is 237m ISK
The Gnosis can muster 832 DPS…the Prophecy 821 DPS ( with Amarr Battlecruiser IV ). However, the real disparity lies not in the laser DPS ( the Prophecy has rather more ) but in the drones. If anything needs nerfing it is Gnosis drone damage, which is higher for the same drones than almost any other ship I have that does not have drone damage modules.
Neither is ‘zero skill’…I have all the gunnery skills at level V and have laser implants, etc, and medium pulse and beam lasers at level V. Getting a laser Gnosis to 832 DPS is not a 5 minute job.
The normal one is 69m ISK…yes mine is a Navy one at 163m ISK, I bought it precisely because it is a laser ship. My figures for the price are correct…the total cost ( 237m ISK for the Navy Prophecy ) is shown in my pic above. It is not 4 times the cost of the Gnosis.
True, but then people can buy entire characters, which to me is more obscene than skill injectors though I have never used either. Having a gazillion skills does not make one a good player…it skips out on all the stuff I’ve learned from just tinkering about and trying fittings and losing ships.
Alphas don’t have perfect fitting skills. They also cannot use the best modules for that ship. Make one with an Alpha clone and compare it to Gloria’s.
I’ve already stated I am against skill injectors. But it can’t be denied that part of the reason is that skill points do not necessarily equate to actual skill…so to me the injectors are just an expensive waste of money. All my other Omega chars can fly a Zealot…but Gloria still has 10 days training left, and it is a complete waste of money to spend 900m ISK ( which would buy 3 Zealots…lol ) to skip that time.
