Do you think we will ever see a full reformation of the community team and a return of the o7 show so the player base can be kept upto date with details of what is going post acquisition?
From the top of my head I can imagine things like flow, ease of access, mobile store optionsā¦I think we understand our product options pretty well already although I still think there are untapped possibilities there that players would take well to (Alliance/corp identity stuff maybe)
Sounds almost too good, sure they say they will leave you alone for the āforeseeable futureā but what happens after that when some suit from above pressures you to pull a lever or turn a knob to increase that you knew not to move to increase profitability?
But hereās the gist of it. In terms of scope, perspective and aims, CCP and PA are a good match indeed.
Now PA is a publicly traded investment management company, their prima focus is on the gaming industry, and for that reason they thusfar have put development to studio levels and branched out through publishers.
They have done so on the basis of their operational principles. These are in no way a match with CCP. Not in terms of mindset, not in terms of practices, in no way.
But this simply lies outside of the scope of CCP staff. Which is fine. It has no relevance as long as CCP functions well according to directives and strategic as well as product level objectives. Thereās multiple levels in this kind of thing, and as long as CCP do their job, PA will just stick to one of those. Leaving the rest to CCP.
It really is a bit unfair to put such questions to staff members. This is the kind of angle you put in front of a ceo, a cfo or a shareholder
But, one thing Falcon is right on. It is a nice payday. Or rather, it will be.
Yeah I donāt give a crap about how much CCP employees make in this deal, or who profits. I play Eve for the fun of Eve and I have serious, legitimate doubts that the game will be the same in a year, two, five with this acquisition as it would have been without it.
I donāt play this game to suck up to devs and shareholders, I play it for fun.
Iāve actually been playing BDO for a short while now to familiarize myself with it. Itās kinda cool, but I feel like Iād need way more experience to judge it.
Some aspects of it are uh⦠mesmerizing⦠others are exciting.
Fantasy MMOs arenāt really my thing, but the one thing that really stood out to me was holy ā ā ā ā is that game engine beautiful.
A bit too much glare on some surfaces (I think because of the recent introduction of PBR), but holy crap itās a pretty game.
But thatās the thing. Everyone has his or her own choice in something like this. And that is fine. EVEās always been changing. If a change suits you, perfect. If it doesnāt, choose. If it sucks you back in again, also good.
I agree with Falcon that itās hard to say or know too much detail about future projects or development at this point (not like we ever see too far into the future anyway), but I do see benefits of being owned by a company that is very financially strong and has a common passion for MMOs. Iām very optimistic theyāll understand the value of having a healthy mix of long term improvement plans and short term engagement plans for a game like EVE.
