I’m rather concerned about financial goals, both short and long-term. What kind of goals has PA shared with you? How are they the same/different then current goals? I know you don’t want to do PTW, but if they are setting lofty goals, my concern is that you may be forced into PTW to hit short term goals, and ruin the game in the process.
It has been answered over and over that there are no plans for PA to intervene in or change how CCP develops Eve Online.
However this is something that is very very easy to provide lip service on, without any backing. We have seen promises like this completely violated by acquisitions in the past, even by PA itself.
So CCP is owned by PA now. That’s not a partnership, that’s an ownership.
If in the future PA changes their mind about intervention, then won’t they have the final say in game direction and monetization? Even if it flat out contradicts all the lip service today? Even if the interventions disagree with the sentiments of the people constituting CCP today? Isn’t this a fact? Those are my AMA quesitons.
Every time someone asks about “will this change the development of EVE”, that’s what they really want to know. It’s not about ‘plans’ which are as ephemeral as a fart in the wind. It’s about the nature of the relationship (owner vs partner) and whether there are formalized legal safeguards against PA corrupting CCP’s benevolent custodianship of EVE. If there are no formalized safeguards, then all the lipservice in the world is only worth the track records of history, which are not promising. Never forget you guys are as much or more custodians of EVE than developers of it. Unless you plan on selling your soul and sacrificing player driven content to the gods in the abyss, then players are the lifeblood of EVE. What’s scary about PA and BDO is the complete lack of respect for players. This is why nobody is reassured. Actions speak louder than words.

can you elaborate on what the incentive goals may push you to do to meet them? as most of everyones concerns are towards a polarizing upset to eve that causes a spiral downhill, and that one sentence, gives me the shivers of chance for it. Please touch a bit on that, i need my safety blanket

Mine is a simple question - was the buyout by Pearl a genuine result of looking for a suitable partner from the EVE game point of view, or was it orchestrated by the financial backers of CCP looking to achieve their exit strategies - if the latter than I find it unlikely that the financial backers of CCP /Eve took game play/community considerations into consideration, and rather focused on getting the largest return. Which may mean that the new owners are not the best actual fit for our game that CCP/Eve - but gave the investors the best possible return

So now that I have unsubbed and will never come back can I still request as an alpha that CCP Socket_Close just shut down the servers FOREVER!!!
Oh i get that, but the point was that CCP is trying to tell us it’s like a marriage, not that it is. Its the spin they’re trying to tell us.
But it’s really more like a marriage from the 1800’s. Some one is now the property of the other. The husband (Pearl) can do what ever they like, really. CCP might get to keep their property that they brought into the marriage, but everything after that is Pearls.
That’s the story we’re being told, true or not.

Im just sad my dudes. The makers of my favorite game are been purchased by a p2w trash company. I keep hearing about how you’ll stay independent as long as you meet profit goals. We haven’t been told what said goals are and my money is on them being set beyond what can be considered normal or healthy growth.
I think it’s a matter of time before you are forced to introduce p2w or pay to be competitive mechanics into Eve just to meet the dictated profit goals. They probably won’t tell you to kill Eve. You’ll be forced to do it yourself.
Like I said. I’m sad about it.

That can handle thousands of players in a system. Aka big fights. We know that a new multi-thread game would perform better if I’m not mistaken from what CCP Falcon said on the Madonna show. And updated client slash game might not be perfect but it would be a lot better than what we have now. So the big question is will Pearl and bath and require something to be done to fix Eve…

Is that I hold the hope that if PA attempts to seriously bring its P2W model into TQ that all of nullsec would just band together dropp nullsec, come into Highsec and burn everything by dec and gank alongside with CODE, trash everything we own just before mass unsubbing…
To make the Jita riots like look like a kindergarten nap time in comparison.

@CCP_Falcon, I’ve scanned half the thread and haven’t seen anyone ask about third party developers yet. I see that you mention many times that it’ll be business as usual, and I’m very glad for that!
I still want to ask, will this acquisition have any effect on third party developers? I’m sure nothing will happen short term, but I am thinking long term as well. Will this affect sites such as zkillboard.com ?

Will eve be adopting PA Eula in regards to accounts, rmt, scamming, multiboxing ect. Ect?
We have our own EULA and policies, that’s the way it intends to stay. Again, Pearl Abyss are not looking to interfere with how we operate EVE Online.
Will tranquility remain London based or could the server find itself in S.E soon?
There are no plans to move Tranquility - we just took it to a new datacenter with all new hardware a couple of years back. It would make zero sense to move it.
Will we need to create PA accounts or will or CCP accounts transfer over?
You won’t need to do anything with your accounts.
Will CCP offer refunds for any unfulfilled subscritpions a.k.a plex if requested? I accepted ccp contractual agreements not PA’s, I may want a refund if Eula changes.
The EULA is not going to change, so this is a moot point. Our EULA is pretty explicit on refunds.
Has a voluntary redundancy been offered for CCP staff, if so what has been the up take?
Why would that even be a thing? No restructure is planned.
Will Plex be transferable to other PA services and vice versa?
No plans have been discussed regarding any connectivity in that respect.

Will alpha clone state be untime-limited like it is now? Or will a time limit be imposed, and we will have to pay for the game after that?
Do you think it’s a conincidence that Black Desert Online got its AFK-leveling feature to EU/NA just before the acquisition, given EVE’s own skill training is somewhat similiar in nature?
