TBH only reason I support 1.0 as no red… is so you can show off ships lmao. Other than that I normally avoid people like the plague in the game. I treat other players like they have covid and stay 6+ systems away from them.

Sure, but you would have to make all 1.0 system devoid of any and all ISK-making activities, else it would be farmed 24/7 in perfect safety. That means no belts, no rats, no combat anomalies, and no trade.

That is true. I mean can you even make that mush isk (besides belts) in 1.0?

Story wise, it kinda make sense to make the major empire places no red and get rid of the asteroid belts and such but other than that all other 1.0s don’t make sense. I mean end of day average player doesn’t get ganked in 1.0 its normally the lower numbers or bottle necks and they are worth millions not a 500k venture. I mean even the ones who do that in LS normally just trying to buff their numbers up and make themselves look important.

If you’re just looking to give a space for new players to learn the game without getting killed, then make it to where there are belts and combat anomalies. But the ore you mine is absolutely worthless, the rats have zero bounty, and killing them doesn’t increase your security status. That would be the trade-off. You want to learn the ropes in perfect safety? Fine. But you aren’t going to be making millions/billions doing it either.

Agree, I mean again. I still doubt Safety or any corp is messing with those areas. I might be wrong. If its that big of an issue than they should look at it but i kinda doubt it.

Tbf - empty freighters being ganked is a direct fault of CCP for making freighters such an expensive killmail. When they cost 2bil for the hull, hardly any empty freighters were ganked except maybe Burn Jita. Suddenly CCP fucks with the mineral prices of freighters, they cost 4.5bil and Safety goes hmmm 800mil in cats to kill a 4.5bil freighter? sounds a bargain for the killmail. Want ganking on empty freighters to stop? Make them less expensive again.

No one is going to bother spending 800 mill ganking an empty freighter. You don’t get anything out of it, other than a killmail, and you wasted 800 million.

Nah, I’ve seen that on multiple occasions. I’ve also seen them burning 1.5B in Talos’ for an empty max-tanked Orca just to show that they can.

Sometimes they are just bored or want to send a message.

Plex is now north of 6 million ISK per unit, I remember when it was 2. Unless I missed something, CCP hasn’t increased high sec mission payouts by factor of 3 in the same time, so this is kinda what happened.

I just checked with my null sec mining buddy, their barges are max yeild but their rorqual pilot is tanked AF. When I asked about ganking there was an awkward pause and he says ‘whats that?’

CCP has added abyssals which return insane amounts of ISK/hour and are freely doable in HighSec. And in an overtanked ship (Tank ready for T6, but limiting yourself to flying T5 safely) it isn’t that much risk once one figured out how to fight the different spawns.

Tbh the income generation never was higher than today and if I compare how fast you could grind ISK when I started (2009) to how fast one can grind ISK today, the factor is probably higher than 3.

They still cost roughly 2b. I just bought a freighter the other day for 2.3b.

Now ask what happens when a neutral shows up in local.

Sorry, got my numbers mixed up - they were 1bil in 2020 before scarcity took affect then skyrocketed for material changes. When they were a bil, empty freighters were not worth ganking.

Now, you see empty freighters being ganked (if you disagree with this, you’re just ignorant), solely because of killmail.

The issue isn’t even ganking - Freighters need to be less expensive.

I don’t disagree that it happens, but it’s not terribly common. If you search zKillboard and look at all Charons destroyed in Lonetrek 0.5+ in the last 90 days, there were eleven total, and only one was empty. In the Forge it was twelve and one empty, and in the Citadel thirty-nine and two empty. Based on that sample, the empty freighter kill rate is between 5% and 9%. Which, while not zero, is also not very high.

EDIT to add: on the cost issue, when I bought my first freighter it was 800m, about twice the cost at the time as an Orca. I miss those days. :cry:

If you want to end ganking you have to make the PVP content desirable first. For example make a good map that makes people want to fight for territory. The current one does not accomplish this.

FW is also cringe, if you join Caldari you will recieve no opposition and capture BF every time.

If you join Amarr you will get awoxed if you go near a plex with friendlies.

FW is also complicated, for example it has Rearguard, Frontline, and Command System. And then there is advantage % and contested %. And then there are infrastructure hubs too. What a bloated concept. Oh and not to mention, the reward for plexing is paid at the end of the capture, instead of incrementally while capturing, this makes it high risk and low reward which makes most people avoid it + more. empty bulkheaded freighters I agree isn’t common - empty cargohold / even interia stabbed, now that’s somewhat common. Of course, people could just bulkhead and worst case use a web alt. But honestly, I’ll die on the hill believing CCP ■■■■■■ prices of battleships and freighters royally with the BPO changes a few years ago. Capitals I can kind of get the price hike… subcaps and highsec ships in general? Nah, fucks up the ecosystem.

Empty freighters of any fit amount to 5-9% of hisec freighter kills in three of the gankiest regions. Whether you consider that “somewhat common” is certainly subjective. Considering the fact that across those three regions hisec freighter kills amounted to an average of only 0.57 per day over a 90-day span, it doesn’t seem like freighter kills are all that common, regardless. I think it’s just that when they happen, it’s a notable event (especially for the pilot) because of the numbers involved.

If Ganking comes to an end, the environment will suffer a little, but not as much if NPC kills in PVE and Abyssal sites suddenly ends along with player losses in missions.

but there is a newbro thing that should be taken far more seriously, like griefing of new players in school systems, which is a bannable offence, yet i see this heppning almost evey day due to our proximity to a school system.

Across the entire scope of ‘careers’ yes, though they aren’t agent based, which is the point being made.

PLEX is almost 6 time the cost it was when it was split from a 1 unit to a 500 unit item. Even if the factor was 3, its still half the ‘PLEX per ISK’ than it was back then.

The mining barges and exhumers warp off, if the Rorqual gets tackled QRF shows up. If someone looses a ship its rarely because some dimwit in a catalyst decided to go red safety.

You could also mine all the materials for that freighter from a single colossal in a day. Those are the days I miss.

Though that is CCP in a nutshell, camping the spawn is bad, but camping the room next to the spawn is fine, like it make a difference…
