So everyone knows nullsec alliances dont want black out, thats fair but im curious to know if perhaps a mechanic that ‘messes’ with the channel?
Hear me out;
New plexes that spawn in nullsec, a little like facwar in that it has a beacon; these are the lower end of the scale and is an attempt to bring into use more ships moving around nullsec - mostly frigates, destroyers etc.
The idea is simple, these are sites where ‘rats’ of the region are attempting to assemble comms jammers but unlike facwar plexes you simply go in and destroy the object being built, there could be several sizes based around expected player sp levels with lower teirs being easy enough for newbros that have decided to goto null; make them semi profitable, like compared to running a lower teir anom so that people will run them not simply because they have too…
Lower unran teirs move up to a higher teir which have harder rats maybe even a faction spawn; as these will often be outside or on the borders of normal alliance operations this may encourage people to run them, maybe even roamers; geared towards cruisers and bc’s.
THESE two lower teirs do not effect local channel, only if the develop into the next teirs.
Bonus twist! higher unran teirs turn into something like normal anomalies in that they lose the beacon and are only on the anom list, more rats etc and a structure to kill (rat structure like you get in missions) these will generally abound in space that isnt used and obviously when someone moves in they will have to clear them of suffer a delayed local channel; not like wh space just 10 seconds delay on char showing up in local.
The highest teir should only be a probable site as the rats are fully set up with dscan jammers or w/e fits ill not go into all that as it doesnt really matter. These probable sites are like 8/10+ ded site and have several structures to clear with similar payouts. If these sites are in system the local channel is like wh space…
however if in angels or guristas… it doesnt effect militia members and should probably have a mechanic for helping rather than destroying, maybe by delivering items, repairing damage or possibly both.
Thats the basic idea, no structures, no mess, meaningful content for all that wont effect used space (because people will run the sites) the facwar like beacons i feel would give newbros more to do with lower sp, the mediums would be great for higher sp that are simply bored of running the same anomaly over and over; both could have something for roamers be it content or maybe a little isk as an aside, anomalies and other stuff remain untouched and the higher tiers wont spawn in alliance space unless left to fester - the higher teirs would probably infest all unused space and because they should be profitable to run people may come out of their comfort zone.
I think tho higher teirs should be made so its more for gangwork, not too much example the anom maybe for one t1 logi cruiser and a couple of cruisers, higher teir for t2; balancing the idea is pointless at this time, im not in the dev team and im just attempting to put an idea out there.
This would tie in well with ansi changes i feel, helping to spread people out as needed; getting people flying through space - maybe even attracting many pvpers back to living in nullsec…
As a footnote having the possibility of small amounts of plex drop out of some of the destroyed structures would also be a heavy incentive to run them…
Needs a bit fine tuning, but yeah, the general idea of having NPCs challenge barely used systems in different ways is rather nice. People have to live and fight locally to make sure they can hold a system.
I’d even go so far let NPCs build up towards an full-scale Invasion the longer a system is at low player activity and those attempts arent thwarted. With full scale attacks on all player Infrastructure and even removing the Sov in the end if the incursion is not defended adequately within a certain timeframe.
And of course, not only in Nullsec. In JSpace the Sleepers and Drifters should do absolutely the same. Only in Lowsec and Pocven, the Empire / TrigClade Fleets keep the local pirates / Rogue Drones in check. It would be another nice distinction between empire- and non-empire space.
You have forgotten about the Drifter Crisis, have you? It was such a well-received feature from CCP because not only did it melt the servers, it kept spamming every null sec system with notifications all day long.
I agree, i think incursions by pirates is where the ratting isk should come from mostly, not anomalies which are incredibly boring and dont really feel fluid in the worldly sense; several different tiers of incursion too but not exactly like sansha incursions though i wouldnt go as far as structure bashing.
I would also like to see them change the sov repair after entosis to some ranged concept similar to proposed ansi changes, something like capital system and 5 jumps out full repair, upto 10 out half repair and so on..
But yes like all ideas it would all need a fine comb put over it and more than a couple of paragraphs to actually flesh it out.
Ye im not convinced of that either but my line of thinking was having some way of contesting the sites with neighbours or roamers other than just for kills if that makes sense?
Im not overly sure what other rewards could be used other than isk/loot though
Maybe towards the end of the system wide effect (Blackout/Jam/etc), have a Commander NPC with Elite Support Fleet spawn which if destroyed, randomly drops a special Faction BPC, sorta like the BPC’s recently available from the past few events…
The actual type of BPC dropped would be dependent upon the NPC Faction as well as the severity of the system wide effect, meaning if the system was under low tier effect, then the Faction BPC could be a Pirate Faction module, if the system was under high tier effect, then the BPC could be a Pirate Faction ship…
Well… All the major alliances have botting groups. Some (all?) even depend on them. So anything that messes with their revenue streams will probably be downvoted for other reasons, ie: making it hard to detect hostiles in-system, etc.
